Wall of Fading Lights - 3WW
Creature - Spirit Wall
Flying
{W}{W}: Put a 0/1 white Spirit creature token onto the battlefield blocking target unblocked creature. Exile that token at end of combat. Activate this ability only during the declare blockers step, and only during your turn.
0/5
A flash of light lasts only for a moment, yet is still enough to halt the fiercest foe.

Wall of Enormity - 7W
Creature - Giant Wall
Reach
Blocking creatures you control get +7/+7.
7/7
Several giants have tried to vault over the wall in centuries past. They're still climbing.

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

So a friend of mine might be, in a bit over a month, running a FATE game using Magic. While batting some character ideas back and forth, I came up with one who had a flintlock pistol (acceptable under "Ixalan exists" rules) but had had to bind a vengeful spirit to it. So:

Mireia, Wrathbinder (2UR)
Planeswalker - Mireia
Starting loyalty: 4
+2: Discard a card, then draw two cards.
-1: ~ deals 3 damage to any target.
-7: ~ deals 3 damage to each of up to three targets. Draw three cards. You may not activate any Mireia planeswalker's loyalty abilities until the end of your next turn.

Loosely Bloodborne-inspired mechanic idea: insight counters. These go on players, much like energy, but they're spent a bit differently: at low insight, things tend to be weaker but gain you insight, while at higher insight they're stronger but remove insight.

Probably not NWO-acceptable, but it's fun to play around with anyway.

Eldritch Awareness (3U)
Instant
If you have three or less insight counters, draw two cards, then you get an insight counter.
If you have four or more insight counters, draw three cards, then remove an insight counter from yourself.
Not all revelations are nice.

Blind the Mind's Eye (UB)
Sorcery
Remove all insight counters from all players.
It's for your own good.

Depending on the size of your hand, the card might be a bit too good. Also, it feels less like a wager when you get your mana back!

I do love the idea of a red tutor coupled with a random discard, though.

As an additional cost to cast ~, pay 1 for each card in your hand.
