I don't think so. People saying other people's name when seeing them is common in real life as well, and could come across as People Sit In Chairs. It's hardly an unnatural occurrence, such as most cases of As You Know, which are often forced into a conversation. Inserting other people's names into conversations is so natural, people can do it without really realizing it.
I was going to say this might be Realistic Diction Is Unrealistic but it's not, quite. Say My Name?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Maybe there's something in where characters refer to each other by name to introduce them to a work, and then rarely do it again.
I know that tends to annoy me.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI've seen this, absolutely. It's not always incredibly obvious, but at times it can be about as blatant as the old "person on the telephone repeats back to the speaker everything they just said". You'll notice it especially when it's a string of characters, who have just come on screen, talking to each other for no apparent reason but to get the name-dropping done.
So yeah, support a split.

@Fighteer: Say My Name would be the Large Ham version of this.
So, crowner here?
I would have sworn that we already have this. It definitely sounds tropeable.
BUMP. Can we get a Crowner here?

It seems like there can be a split here.
Do you know when characters do the following:
As You Know already covers this, but I think there must be enough examples out there for it to warrent a sub-trope. It's just that it is a Pet-Peeve Trope to me: You don't have to say the over person's name the moment to see him/her! Be creative! It's exusable when it's Live Action TV or a Film, but it is very frustrating when it appears in a book or an anime. For example, The Wheel Of Time. Also, this happened during Hidan's and Kutsu's (or whatever his name is) in Naruto. It happens in One Piece to even though the characters are introduced with narrative boxes (and during the Marineford battle, it suddenly became an island full of Captain Obvious).
Enough complaining for now. Does that need a split?
