We have that in the form of Bulbmin.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I'm going to revive/bump this, since we already have two more Pikmin discussions and a bit of information was released on the series. (Not much, though. See below.)
Anyway, just wanted to say Pikmin 3 has now been moved to the Wii U. But I'm sure everyone knows that. The original date was supposed to be the tenth aniversary for the first game's release, so I'm thinking by that date Nintendo would at least give a trailer or something.
I'll post my ideas for the game later.

Old. He said this in a round table at E3.
It's not that it hasn't been confirmed, it's just that Miyamoto keeps reassuring us that he's working on it. He said it was in development a long time ago; he just hasn't shown any media yet because he didn't/doesn't feel it's yet at a point where it's ready to be shown.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI have high hopes for this one, considering Pikmin 2 is the only game I have played through more than twice. When you guys were talking about the idea of Black Pikmin, it reminded me of a fanfiction I once read where Olimar found a single black pikmin that single-handedly slaughtered all enemies and other pikmin, and Olimar went a little power crazy. Anyway, as for ideas... can't think of any. Sorry.
"Hell hath no fury like a flaming skeleton on a motorcycle"- Ghost RiderIf all else fails, you could come up with ideas for new enemies. :P Nothing like new ways to mercilessly slaughter your forces!
Maybe a praying mantis-inspired enemy. It attacks by lashing out with its long claws. However, they tend to attack in groups, and you can trick them into going after each other.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaIn the ending to Pikmin 1, you see Cyan, Green, Purple, Black, Orange, and Gray onions.
cumEnemies, hmmm... I was thinking some kind of Snagret chick of both Burrowing and Pileated type. Maybe they could assist the fully grown Snagrets? I doubt they would need help though. Those things are damn annoying anyway.
"Hell hath no fury like a flaming skeleton on a motorcycle"- Ghost RiderI had this weird random idea where one type of enemy was Goomba-like, sort of like a Microgoomba. And that the final boss of the game would be a regular Goomba, only of course being giant compared to the Pikmin. It would be a hilarious contrast from their status in the Mario games.
Better yet, it's a realistically-depicted Goomba. Can you imagine how hilariously terrifying it would look?
I've always had a sort of pet theory that the Pikmin universe is the microcosm of the Mario universe. Partially because the Bulborbs look like they're mushroom-y, and partially because of the Mario-branded products—he's a famous celebrity in the Mushroom Kingdom, so why wouldn't he do product endorsements?
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaA human will be the final boss in the third game
Didn't Miyamoto confirm that the planet in Pikmin is Earth after humans have gone extinct? Not sure if its true but that's what iv'e heard.

"Hell hath no fury like a flaming skeleton on a motorcycle"- Ghost RiderI don't know about the extinct part but it is meant to be Earth.
Well, you'd think Olimar would have encountered at least a single human by now.
"Hell hath no fury like a flaming skeleton on a motorcycle"- Ghost RiderI'd prefer if humanity remains The Ghost.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! It could be that humanity just left the parts he visits.
Seconding humanity as the ghost. In fact I'd like to see more signs of development but no people. Like Buck Bumble when humans somehow managed to miss all the mutant bugs.
So you all proved me wrong, there are more things to do with the series. Locals? A beach at low tide. The end of day involves tides washing it all away? Enemies? Shelled creatures that are definitely not snails, not flies, not horse shoe crabs, not hermit crabs who hide in treasure and marine grub dogs. A beached sea animal or boat acts as a gravity barrier and there is a little grassy area beyond the beach, some tide pools, underwater caves and I'm out of ideas.

Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI think a really cool new feature would be if pikmin could cling together to form living constructions like army ants.
It could use the Wii U's touchscreen to give us an interface that plays sort of like World Of Goo. Certain pikmin, like reds or purples would be able to make more connections (one for each limb, maybe another for the purple's antenna), while weaker ones could make only two or three. The amount of weight they could hold would also depend on their strength.
For instance, yellows would be good for starting ropes and chains from high places thanks to how far they can be hurled. But a construction like a bridge over open space might be better off left to reds, while a bridge that dips into water would need blues. In either case, the supports for the bridge might be best left to a bunch of heavy purples.
It could be used for puzzle solving, of course, but this mechanic could have tons of gameplay potential.
For instance, getting purples to clump together into a big ball on top of a hill could give the player a chance to bowl them at enemies.

The only place I've heard that attempts to claim Word of God on that sort of thing is in Let's Play stuff, and as much as I enjoy a good Let's Play I don't trust them on that sort of stuff. If Miyamoto did attempt to claim such a thing, it would be pretty foot-in-mouth of him, since in Pikmin 2, the Valley of Repose has snowmen in it. Since time has past since the first game and that was an area from the first game, now under the grip of winter, how would those snowmen have gotten there if humans were extinct?
But yeah. I like the idea of Olimar never encountering humans directly, although the implication that they're there is kind of cool.
Also cool: That World of Goo-ish idea.

Yes. Brer Rabbit.
Jonah Falcon
That's where the "temporary" factors in. Besides—elemental hazards never were the biggest barrier to Pikmin anyway, saving maybe electrical ones. All the rest are easily savable. It's those darned enemies that are the problem...
