This is pretty much it. What games do you guys know with interesting magic systems?

This is a tabletop game, but Deadlands has a poker-hand system that's pretty interesting.

I heard Eternal Darkness has a good one.

Lost Magic. It's right there in the title. Really couldn't be more apt. Best game mechanic in the history of videogames, as i keep telling people.

Too bad the games' a mess otherwise and entirely forgotten

Yeah, Eternal Darkness is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. It's almost its own mini-language.

Yup. Lost Magic definitely has an INTERESTING magic system. Being what it is though, it has the "wonderful" habit of misinterpretation. "You wanted the Water2 rune? Here, have the Wind1 rune! These symbols look identical, after all!"

Quest 64 has a nice spin on the four main elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water.
