You know, that anti-gay marriage church sign seems unnecessary for simply having Mr. Brown bring back the subject of Mrs. Brown having not yet accepted that her daughter is indeed gay (or at least heavily gay-leaning on the Kinsey scale). Think it might be a Chekhov's Gun regarding this arc's villain (or at least a second Big Bad)?

I got the impression that Mr Brown may somehow think that the two girls who’ve disappeared may be gay (and together) — though I’m not sure how he could know that. So the sign may mostly be there as a signal to the readers that this isn’t a terribly woke sort of community, clarifying what he’s saying.

Looks like something terribly mysterious.

Well at least it's not the house Mrs. Brown went to, judging by windows and decor...

Although the windows on the inside were inconsistent with decor outside even in the same page they were shown, so actually nvm this isn't a meaningful reason to discard the possibility.

Does he know that they're superheroes? It's a much more reasonable sentence if he thinks of them as "his daughter and her barely-mobile girlfriend". I can't remember if they've been outed to Spinny's family or not.

I wonder if it'll eventually be revealed that he already has suspicions about his daughter's Secret Identity, just like Commissioner Gordon is sometimes depicted regarding Batman and/or Batgirl.

She is not exactly subtle about it.

That's an advantage for Mr. Brown, yes. Batman in comparison is ultra-secretive, and yet in some depictions Gordon deduces his identity within perhaps the first year of said superhero's first appearance in Gotham, simply by noticing the suspicious coincidence of said first appearance with the long-absent Bruce Wayne's return to Gotham and remembering that Bruce was traumatized as a child by witnessing his parents' cold-blooded murder at the hands of a street criminal (some portrayals even have Gordon as one of if not the first GCPD officers to interact with the child in question, getting a first-hand experience of the boy's condition after the tragedy), along with a host of other "lesser" clues that he may have come across.

Mr. Brown looks like he's surprised Marilyn's visor has infrared capability.

If he’s still just thinking of it as “that thing that helps a disabled person live a normal life”, any bells and whistles could well surprise him. Like finding that a visitor’s wheelchair has bluetooth.

(Except that everything has bluetooth these days, I know.)

Marilyn did mention that it was a DARPA project she was working on with her father. Might be just a "Wait, how many features does that thing have?" moment.

I just realized something, with that fat suit she wears how come none of her friends or family question how or why she suddenly gained a ton of weight?

As far as I could tell, she didn't have any friends close enough to care but Sahira. As for her family, it's always striking to see someone after a while apart.

A better question, how is Marilyn's identity a secret, at all? It was one thing back when she was slumped over in an off-the-shelf wheelchair, but now her cover is pretty much just fewer pleats.
