Maybe I'm just in tinfoil mode but I think I might be on to something with the facts that...

  • We've never actually seen anyone explode after eating two, nor have any characters even claimed to have witnessed it firsthand.
  • The person who first provided the exposition on this (CP9's Blueno) has spent his entire life indoctrinated by the World Government.
  • The WG's higher-ups can alter the official records of Devil Fruits.

I feel like by how special BB is it's probably just exaggerated but lethal still.

Though I'm ready to take my hypothetical hat off to you if it turns out the Elders are so weird because they ate multiple D Fs. tongue

Eh. Blackbeard's got far too many of his own mysteries to be the one debunking the eat two, die now theory.

It's funny how both Blackbeard and the Elders are unusual for humans, but both for different reasons.

BB's "unusual body" was phrased as Marco's best guess for how BB did it. Even he doesn't know for sure.

Our sample size for people who have eaten two Devil Fruits is, at present, 1, and the only confirmed result of it so far is gaining both powers.

Although we don't even know if he actually ate it.

Damned cloth.

Though the fact that he felt the need to cover up what he did would say that whatever he did is an ace in the hole that he's keeping close to the chest.

The only other case of a Devil Fruit user having the powers of two devil fruits is Wapol in the non-canon episode of Chopper special. Wapol obtains the powers of his brother's Shroom-Shroom Fruit by eating him while still having the Munch-Munch Fruit's powers.

Kaido doesn't JUST want to die. He either wants to be the pinnacle of strength in the world, or go out in a glorious way. He wants the kind of death Roger and Whitebeard and Oden had - Deaths that are infamous.

That's why he doesn't do something like try to drown himself, which would be easy for a Devil Fruit user. No glory in it.

The person who first provided the exposition on this (CP 9's Blueno) has spent his entire life indoctrinated by the World Government.

The WG's higher-ups can alter the official records of Devil Fruits.

That theory has been around for a long time, but I really dont think it holds up anymore now that we have met two scientists with enough knowledge about Devil Fruits to create artificial copies of them and who used to work for the Government but betrayed them.

Cesar and Vegapunk both absolutely would have to know what happens if you eat two Devil Fruits and have no reason to keep it to themselfs.

The old Devil Fruit debate again. I'm still leaning on "Yes, you will explode" idea — like, if it really was possible, you'd think you would see more multi-fruit users as you went along the Grand Line, from pirates who were either reckless or just never heard that you shouldn't eat more than one fruit.

Also, I still think covering Whitebeard with the tarp did more than just hide what he was doing — maybe he needed to be in darkness for the dark-dark fruit to pull the Devil Fruit power permanently.

I've also started to theorize that Blackbeard might also have Bucaneer blood.

It might account for the strange body statement.

It was the combination of his unique bloodline and the Dark Dark Fruit that let him pull off getting two fruit powers.

I know its not really where the topic's at now, but thought of something further to say on Kaido. Considering his feelings on a "grand death," when Luffy powers down from Gear Five and Kaido assumes he's one and tells Luffy people will talk about their fight forever, that's basically Kaido (in his own mind) giving the most praise to Luffy that he can to an opponent.

He tries it again when he and Luffy are having their final clash, but by that point Kaido's activated his Death Flag by going on a villainous rant earlier about superior Conqueror's Haki.

Speaking of Haki... I can't help but think it would've been kind of cooly ironic if none of the Elders (Imu himself would be fine) had Conqueror's Haki. Oh well, I'm not surprised it didn't turn out that way.

I think of the Elders as a Puzzle Boss of sorts for Luffy. They're not remotely on the same level of fighting ability as the Emperors, but something about them makes them damn near impossible to permanently harm. The Straw Hats have to figure out the puzzle if they want to win.

I think I said this before, but I think eating two fruits will be saved for a REALLY dramatic and shocking scene, akin to White Diamond Removing Steven's Gem. Ironically despite the INCREDIBLE revelations of Egghead, One Piece could definitely use such a moment. Like we've known for YEARS but the moments it happens will probably leave us speechless with the result.

Pirate Warriors 4 Roger moveset:

Same problem Shanks has, he's got so little screentime that 90% of the moveset is made up. The Haki volcanos are at least new.

And Garp:

Same problem. They didn't even use anything from Fullalead, just referenced it a little.

And Rayleigh:

Third verse, same as the first. Though this one is especially weird because they didn't even reference things he did do, like the "Don't cross that line" moment he had against the Marines, or the Kizaru interception kick.

I have to admit getting back into PW 4 and seeing them, they are fun to use. If there is a PW 5, they will definitely add more since more people have to shown off. Can't wait to see how they might do the 5 Elders.

Something funny to me is that Robin's Cien Fleur Big Tree move she uses on Oars is WAY bigger in the anime than in the manga. Like, way too big. Like Mil Fleur post-timeskip level big. It's supposed to be 100 arms, not 1000, same number of arms she uses for Wing.

Here is Big Tree in the manga:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0472_011.jpg

And here it is in the anime. It wraps around Oars' arm multiple times and then pulls it back.

So i was recently thinking, if live action or the Wit Studio remake ever reach the Momoiro island, how would they make it so that the island is not aged like milk? And i think i got a solution for it.

Bad makeup.

Think about it. Sanji has to be scared of the members of the kingdom, but it definetly cannot be by the fact that they're transvesties because you know, it looks bad in today's age.

So my idea makes sense. These people haven't really been exposed to others in the world, so they don't know exactly how to look pretty, so their make up is horrifying to the audiance and Sanji, but they just don't know how to apply it so that's it's beautiful for us.

The scenario would still be the same, Sanji arrives at the island, is scared shitless by the members on it, but not because of who they are, but because their make up looks downright terrifying. And Ivankov can just keep them like that for the rest of the timeskip because it's hilarious seeing Sanji's reaction to them. And when Sanji describes that he was in hell for those 2 years, it would also make sense because bad makeup is all that he could see, so his "fishman island phase" would still make sense.

[up][up] I gotta be honest, a lot of these manga and anime comparisons seem nitpicky to me. Is it wrong? Sure. But I also think a lot of them are ultimately very minor things. Interesting trivia to know, though.

I may also be misunderstanding your intention in pointing them out, though.

I said it was just something funny I noticed. The anime writers clearly thought they were just giving Robin an even cooler moment, when actually she wasn't at that level of strength yet, and the ability to create constructs that large is something she would gain over the timeskip.

Her biggest single move post-timeskip is Mil Fleur, Fishman Karate, Giganteum, and I could see that being about as big as the anime Big Tree she used on Oars (since that ceiling is high enough for Kunyun to walk under).
