Uh oh looks like Chopper's getting replaced.
Oh well. he'll always have the role as the crews emergency food supply.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Wow.. Seeing videos and tweets, even all the way up to 47 and 48, people really were still drumming up the "The raid will fail" theory. Do... do One Piece readers just not know how story structure and themes work? Or do they assume Oda doesn't know or care?

A lot of people apparently wanted Wano to be like Water 7, ending in an unambiguous loss that would be paid back in a subsequent arc. They felt this would provide better hype and tension for the finale of the conflict with the Emperors.
Any odds of the raid failing to mark the end of Act 3 died when Luffy lost once, fell off Onigashima, came back, then lost again and DIED before coming back again.
It DID. That was Act 1. Luffy already lost to Kaido. This is more akin to the raid on Enies Lobby.
Having Luffy lose AGAIN at this point would just be bad writing.
The only scenario I could see Kaido returning is if he came back literally on the verge of death, charged towards the Flower Capitol, Momo turns into his human form and chases him, grabs Ame-no-Habakiri from Tenguyama Hitetsu, and cuts Kaido down right there, all in one chapter. That would almost kinda make sense, but it really doesn't need to happen.

But that already happened when Kaido laid out Gear 4 Luffy in Act 1.

But Wano BEGAN with an unambiguous defeat. Luffy got his shit rocked by Kaido after doing no damage at all
Basically, Act 1 and 2 were the Water 7. Act 3 is Enies Lobby.
One Piece fans, much like Harry Potter fans, are also well aware of the writer’s propensity for use of Chekhov's Armory and as a result are prone to singling out basically anything as possibly important even if it isn’t. The giant sword seems to be an example of this; apparently it IS just a decoration.
Yeah, any chance of using that sword to beat Kaido vanished when Luffy created a fist even larger than it.
I still kinda think it'll be used, but it will be revealed as Zunisha's sword that they left on Wano last time they were here with Joy Boy.
My bet is that we're gonna get a scene where Yamato and Momo, both in Hybrid form, team up and do a combo attack on the Marines while announcing that Wano is FREE (maybe reminiscent of Conquest Of The Sea, with Momo standing in for Linlin with Ame-no-Habakiri instead of Napoleon and Yamato standing in for Kaido with Takeru instead of Hassaikai). Then when more Marines show up, Zunisha draws the sword and Momo tells them to destroy the Marine warships.

Context: a version of the video for "Help Me Dr. Dick" by E-Rotic, featuring Chopper and Nami frenching each other a few times, plus a few characters undergoing Ron the Death Eater (NSFW warning)

Thousand Dreamers, Watashi wa Saikyo, and Believe slap so hard.Ah yes, that Dr. Dick parody. I remember that.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyIf you look back, you can find that very video posted a few times early in this thread as a shitpost.
What always got me about that video is the amount of bit characters that show up in it. It was clearly made by a pretty big fan.
I wonder if Oden wrote about Teech at all in his logbook. Or any of the Whitebeard or Roger Pirates.
He did mention Teach, yes.
I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person.Random question: who most consistently steered the Merry and Sunny before Jimbei joined, if anyone?
"I shall watch all episodes of One Piece by uploading the information directly into my brain."
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I think the Merry was usually Usopp, and the Sunny was usually Franky.
Obviously, you can't let Luffy and Zoro steer. Nami's busy navigating, so she just tells how to steer. I think Sanji and Chopper have steered the Merry on occasion, but I can't recall either of them ever steering the Sunny. And I'm pretty sure Robin never steers either ship. I think Brook may have steered a couple times?

Since it seems to be where we're heading next (probably around chapter 1,060, since ~10 chapters of wrap-up is standard for huge arcs), what's one thing you want to see in Elbaf?
The number 1 thing I want to see is Usopp vs Prince Loki. A battle of lies, trickery, and deception, similar to Usopp vs Perona.
Zoro have a drinking contest with a giant. And it ends in a draw.
Never thought about thr fact they never had a designated helmsman until now.
Like it definitely feels tacked on, but it makes a surprising amount of sense given how many times they've capsized. And of course the helmsman is the one who understands the seas the best.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Tacked on? I'll remind you that Zoro's only official designation is "swordsman." At least Helmsman is an actual job.

I feel like I remember more instances of Chopper steering the Merry than Usopp.
Tellingly, one of the few ships to be referred to with male pronouns was the German battleship Bismarck. The ship's captain Ernst Lindemann thought its power meant it should be considered manly.
Apparently Compensating for Something isn't just about cars.
In light of that, whoever ends up controlling Pluton will probably refer to the ship with male pronouns too.
