So that I can get off to a good start, are there any albums from Aesop Rock or Mos Def you'd especially recommend?

Lucky: Question wasn't at me. But None Shall Pass is considered Aes' most accessible, Labor Days and the Daylight EP are just below that. Bazooka Tooth is the least accessible, but also one of the best.

I know little about Mos Def.

Mos Def... "The Estatic" is pretty good, and well, "True Magic" and "The New Danger" both have their moments.

I think Aesop Rock's best work (and really, the only one I can play without skipping) is the Daylight EP.

Mos Def. Eh, all I know is that he's good. Haven't dug deep into him.

But white people LOVE him! :D

^ Was joking. Basically, there's a site called Stuff White People Like, and yeah,he's one of the people mentioned. It's hilarious. :D Though I was hoping someone would pick up on that...=/

Well yeah, he's pretty whitey-friendly. I do admit to a lot of the SWPL -sins, and so do the author.

Antipop Consortium? Arrhythmia made me realize that, yes, alternative/underground hip-hop is subject to Sturgeon's Law, just like everything else.

I've only heard a handful of their songs.

So i can't really say, i can say however that one of the rappers has the coolest name ever.

I like Stuff White People Like because its nice, fun poking at stereotypes. There's always exceptions to the rule. :3

Idk what a loonie is, but since as you mentioned a bunch of cool hip-hop groups in there, I'll assume they're good. Haven't heard Thadius Beck before, will check. /adds to list

Dead Prez & DJ Green Lantern "Pulse of the People" is the only good rap album to come out in 2009. Prove me wrong.

I'll have one in a minute.

Litis: Didn't he do instrumental work though?

But yeah The Grey Album is great if you like The Beatles and/or Jay-Z.

I'm not a huge fan of either.
