Which brings us back to the fact yaldy wouldn't side with shido over akechi. If nothing else, for the same reasons he offers the deal to joker : because he'd get a kick out of it. And that's a pretty big "if nothing else".
What i'm trying to say is that shido wasn't set up because he made the masses easier to control, he was set up because akechi wanted him to rise so je could fall harder.
As a side note, exposing the would-be messiah as a fraud would also make people easy to control for yaldy since the people who voted for him would probably end up with pretty big self confidence issues, making them All too willing to jump in a comfy cell un the prison of regression.

He never shows interest in Akechi the way he does Joker. Not only is Goro never shown to be brought to the Velvet Room he's limited to a mere two personas as tools to help him.
He puts more effort into aiding Joker right down to having a Confidant with him. Yaldy knows Humans Are Morons so he easily sees how dumb Goro's plan is a mile away.

Yaldy probably focused on Joker and became a Confidant with him as a way of not-really-balancing giving Akechi a head-start on things.

Akechi either should have been evil and on Shido's plans, or did far less cumulative and personal villainy while working under him.

at this point you're just using selective evidence that suits your narrative.
Yaldy gave a headstart to akechi of several years and the story treats him as stronger than joker one on one with only two personas(regardless of how easy he actually is, that's a boss design issue, not a story one) but i guess that's not worth mentionning.
On the other hand he's totally responsible for goro only having only two personas, it's not at all because the wild card requires you to bond with people to work and akechi is incapable of doing so, except with joker. makes. Perfect. Sense.
Bold of you to assume yaldy didn't offered to akechi to be his confidant since we never see any of that and therefore is purely speculations.
Also I guess we're not gonna talk about the fact that across all games the velvet room is always acknowledged as little as possible even when it's weird to do so and chalk up the fact akechi never speaks of it to that ? No ? Damn.
(Goro never mentionning it is dumb, but overall so is the fact the protag apparently zone out in front of everyone every time he goes there and somehow never tries to explain it to the gang in other games.)
As a side note, because goro's plan is "dumb", yaldy should side with the man just as dumb as him who only got there through akechi and weirdness censor to carry his plan. Yeah. Stellar logic right there. Weren't you the one to argue one of the points of the story is that shido is a bumbling idiot who's nothing without yaldy to cover up his blunders ?

Well, we finally have context as to why Kamoshidaman turns into a rabbit creature in his boss fight. I'm going to be paraphrasing part of a comment from this video

I've heard some more as well. Doe is apparently a Cognition of her deceased father. He wanted Hikari to be "The protagonist of her own story/her life".
So naturally the villain would be the antagonist of the first story in human history.

On another topic, have you seen the new Persona 5: Mementos Mission manga? Only 2 chapters and it's still in the setup phase of the story, but the art is gorgeous. Like, dayum, Joker.

That particular channel actually has uploaded all the "Social Link" events for P5D and P3D. I've only seen the P5 side, but I like that they include a ton of interactions between party members. That's one thing I feel P5 was lacking, especially nearing the endgame.
Also apparently both games take place at the same time (somehow) and the plot are Elizabeth and the twins arguing "My guest is better than yours".

Never said jack about Shido was a chosen one. Only that he was being manipulated like everyone else by Yaldy. The only character not under Yaldy's control was Morgana. They were all puppets dancing in the palm of his hands.
He only offered that to the Thieves because Joker still piqued his interest. Literally his offer to PT in that ending is solely because It Amused Me.
