Just to add to Scherzo's argument, the Arthurian aspect is also integrated into the gameplay. Like the duel with Pixy at the end, which was pretty much the airplane equivalent of jousting. I think it get's the theme across just as well as AC 5.

Yeah. I don't know why people are just that bothered about the Arthurian thematics in ACZ. You don't see us complain about Excaliburs being spread across thousands of media, video games and movies combined, with different shapes and sizes, do you?

I also think the plot of ACZ way more than AC 5, especially after the 2/3rds point. It's like The Sum Of All Fears meets Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

What about Stonehenge, Scinfaxi, Hrimfaxi, Grabcr, and Ofnir?
What about them? I'm not complaining about the mythological references — I'm complaining that ACZ's story has nothing besides mythological references. The story is flat and boring, with mythological references sprinkled on top for flavor.

And if you think The Belkan War was a WWII rehash, what the hell do you call AC 04 then?
AC04's story was character-driven rather than plot-driven. It was less about "the war" and more about the interactions of the narrator, Yellow 13, and Mobius, with the war as a backdrop. It's okay to have a flat plot if you have interesting characters — ACZ had flat plot and flat characters.

I also think the plot of ACZ way more than AC 5

With that sentence, he tried to fly through the Aigaion's airstrip and hit that damn column in the middle.

...Was there a column? I forget.

Yes! I hated that. I've tried flying through the airship before, and yes, there is a column right in the damn middle.

I have a question.

Why does everyone assume change is always good? Whenever I give a negative opiinion of this game, I just hear "What, are you afraid of change?!"

I could turn your car into a scooter. Hey its a change, don't complain. Are you afraid of change?

I don't know about you, but most of the Game FA Qers abhor the changes this game is bringing. They all think it'll be horrible, with the only redeeming quality so far being the fact that we can finally play as helicopters and bombers, for what that's worth.

Its really less about the story than the aesthetics and feel of ACZ that make it the best AC, though I like the plot as well. I like how the story is told mainly through the mission dialouge, and its a lot more mature than AC 5's 'we all want peace' cataltrap. In the end Pixy is probably a Char Clone, but as an experience I think ACZ is the most tonally and aesthetically refined A Cs.

Lets not forget that the 3 routes adds replayability, plus its neat seeing the different interviews talk about you.

Really makes you feel like you're in the universe doing these things.

I kind of want to buy an old PS 2 just to play them.

I love how Namco Bandai decided that in order to move more units they needed to WESTERNIZE. Have they ever heard of focus testing? Or asking fans what they think? Polls? Did they do any research?

Yes. They looked at games sales, saw Call Of Duty MW 2 and the top and thought "If we make our game like COD, then we will get benefits like COD".

I didn't say it was good research.

You know, the month that AC 6 came out, the Xbox 360 outsold every other console on the market. If I remember correctly, that was the only time that happened.

Something tells me that this will not see a repeat.

Oh, and anybody enticed to pre-order by offers of an F-4?

I'm gonna end up buying it from Gamestop anyway, so I might just preorder it, not that the F4 really entices me.

Eh, skipping out on this one, they've railroaded the air combat way too much. The Apache section was the only part that really interested me, and that's probably only going to be part of what, two or three missions total?

It's still pretty cool that you can actually use the gunships in multiplayer though!

[up][up]What makes you say that? I got the impression that the Apache sections were going to be a major part of the game. I'm more worried about them taking over the jet combat part than about them being too infrequent, honestly. I wouldn't be surprised if the gunship sections (ie, the truly "on rails" parts) were few and far between, though.

That said, I find it hilarious how people are saying that the jet missions are on rails based on the demo of the first level, which is equal parts Justified Tutorial, Nightmare Sequence, and Video Game Setpiece. If every jet mission ends up being that, then I'll eat my words (and cry bitter tears of sorrow), but I seriously doubt that that will be the case.

I dunno, the first level of AC 6 served as a demo and it was pretty representative of things to come. Ending the mission by crossing the safe line was the only thing out of the ordinary, although mid-mission cutscenes were few and far between.

I would hate trying to land or take off with these controls though.

[up][up]

Its not so much that the game wants you to use their new system and learn it, its that it FORCES YOU TO USE IT and PUNISHES you for using the normal way.

And if the tutorial was just trying to show you the ropes as it were, why would the game put so much emphasis on forcing you to down TGT Leads using ONLY that, if it only applied for the tutorial?

If they wanted to force the damn system on you, they could have just used what they did at the start of the tutorial, where you start in it.
