ORAS is easily better then Ruby and Sapphire.

Ruby and Sapphire, debatably, but certainly not Emerald.

Personally, I'd prefer to not have a Retraux art style for a DP remake, down to the tile. I wasn't a fan of it in ORAS, but I appreciate the faithfulness. I would like it to look closer to how SwSh looks.

Going back to the performance review, I find it hilarious that it rated Jessie and James at A.

Like sure, maybe they're the best grunts in Yellow, but that's not a high bar.

I want Sinnoh to have a complete revamp to showcase it in HD glory. So it's probably going to be a tile-for-tile chibi recreation.

I want it to be a 2.5D Octopath Traveller style look. Itll never happen, but I want it. I want more games to look like that.

[up]Octopath is really nice-looking! If they ever went back to sprite work I'd love to see that!

On the topic of remakes, I while I have a soft spot for R/S (first pokemon games I COULD own for myself) I will admit that the remakes do a good job in their own right. Not to say I don't understand WHY people don't like them. While I personally don't care for facilities such as Battle Frontier I do think them being a 1:1 ratio a bit too much kind of hurts it a little. There's kind of a balance you need with these games. Too much of the same thing and you wonder why any changes are really necessary. Too many changes and it really doesn't feel the same anymore. With the nature of games like Let's Go/ORAS, while it is a faithful remake/remaster(whatever you want to call it) of yellow, I do think it suffers from some of those aforementioned issues.

There's a lot to like about OR/AS but there's also a lot not to like as much.

Starts out terrible and hilariously outclassed until it got Drizzle and becomes a force to be reckoned with and a important part of any rain team.

[up]Which speaks mostly to just how stupidly good Drizzle is, really. Or most abilities that activate on switch, like Intimidate, come to think of it. I wonder if a minor nerf is in order there. Like, they activate at the end of the turn the mon was sent out.

Should point out that this sudden shift in the meta for Pelipper is not just because of Drizzle, but also the 10 point Sp. Atk buff to Base 95. That part was not mentioned in the video at all, but rectified in the comments.

Side note: I remember when I Wonder Traded a lot in Alpha Sapphire and got a lot of Wingull, which is one of the Pokemon I will always release when I get them because of just how trash it is. Then SM came around and was surprised to hear how good it was now, and now when I WT, I only release the ones with Keen Eye because only the ones with Hydration gain Drizzle upon evolution. Then when I got Ultra Moon, I made one a team member and called him Lucky. Not cuz it was shiny, but because of the fact of all Pokemon to get a couple small changes and considered buffed significantly, it was fricken Pelipper, the Pokemon that used to be trash.

What a comeback story for this thing, Goddamn.

Abilities having the priority they do is the entire reason things like Intimidate and Weather setters have any tactical value. Give them negative priority and no one will use them. So the pokemon like Pelipper will end up down at tier at worst due to them, or never rise out of the low tiers because they lack viable options.

Choice Specs Pelipper seems like it was a thing for like a few months of SM OU, but now it's pretty dead. I run and fight against a lot of rain on the OU ladder, and generally speaking specially-dfensive damp rock Pelipper is the wave. Nowadays you really want to extend the weather.

But yeah, Pelipper is probably one of the greatest competitive glowups in history, and FSG is right in saying how it basically made the rain playstyle, alongside broken Swampert. Rain is the best it's been since Gen 5; potent abusers, along with a weather setter that does shit in battle and perfectly synergizes with Broken-Swampert? Yeah, a bad rain matchup in OU is an actual nightmare.

it's a shame both it and mega swampert are ugly as shit but you know, victory at any cost.

Swampert is stuck being the least cool of a trio of really cool starters. I think all three are really well designed.

@cross: valid

I agree that all the three hoenn starters are solid but i prefer swampert to sceptile, who isn't really a favorite. Both pale in comparison to KFC, however, and that's just objective facts. Even if you disagree with me on aesthetics KFC with its hidden ability and Mega KFC are just broken.

gotta give this to m-pert though. Since its whole thing is being a Swift Swim monster, imagining this 'roided out mudfish somehow outspeeding speedsters like jolteon and tapu koko, with its stubby little legs is adorable

I think Gen 3 and Gen 4 are both the best generations of Starters in the series, in that all three starters for both gens are equally fantastic slam dunks, in terms of design.

Swampert's line are axolotls, not mudfish.

I always found swampert and marshtomp awkward looking. The black fins aren't good looking IMO and make the design look clumsy. Maybe if they were sleeker looking it'd be better. mudkip is kinda cute but TBH he's my least fave out of the gen 3 starter base forms.
