Look interesting. I may have to check this out.

I guess it is.Oops thanks for posting the link.
No regret shall pass over the threshold!I think Sunrise are trying to avoid Filler Hell, by waiting for the second Story Arc of the manga to end.
I read the manga, and the best thing about it is that it feels like Naruto done right. If you are not reading the manga, you are missing out on a lot of goodies. (Hint: Masamori kicks ass! And so does Yoshimori! and Tokine! And...)
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!Aww! no love for my favourite series? sigh...
Anybody know the trope for time-limited techs? Yoshi's sensing tech has a time limit of sort...it's inversely proportional to its range.
Ch 285, who is this bad guy? and I was strongly reminded of Haku's jutsu with those eight gates.
Incidentally, now that the second major arc is over, do you think it will get animated soon?
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!Yeah, I have no idea who that new bad guy is. But I'm also fairly certain Yoshimori screwed himself pretty badly when he jumped into that door. There's no telling how far away he could end up, if he even ends up in the same dimension.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."@ryzvonusef: Your 'Naruto' comment just became Hilarious in Hindsight now that I finally read the latest chapters. Yoshi clones FTW!
Also, Kumon is a Pretty Cool Guy. Eh snipes houses with trees and doesn't afraid of anything.

Meh. Heard a lot of good things about it, went to check it out, turned out to be a typical shonen series without many distinguishing features to set it apart from the pack. Failed to sustain my interest past the first volume. Art is a bit on the rough side. On the whole, a decent but not particularly outstanding example of the genre.
I read that at the library I was volunteering at while I was signing kids up for a summer reading program...
... ... ... meh.
I chuckled at the revelation of the dog coming out, but other than that, it seemed pretty generic. Main protag has a lot of power, but no control. Female side character has lots of control, but not as much power, and despite beating the Protag at their job on a daily basis, she ends up being helpless JUST enough times for the protag to be the protag. Plus, Romeo And Juliet family feud.
While cliches aren't all that bad, the dynamics struck me as rather stale.
New User HandleIt gets a lot better. Though I'm not finished with it, since I got fed up with the abomidable translation quality on the website I was on. I'll eventually pick it up again, hopefully.
I'd call it Bleach minus the Soul Society, myself.
I realise Kekkaishi is rather a routine Shōnen, but the point is, the story is very nice and simple with no Ass Pull. The whole Hazama-ryu system of using Kekkai is straightforward, no bizarre theory being stuffed down our throat; also no romance cloud over the story, Yoshi likes Tokine, the end.
I like it because it doesn't give me a headache like Naruto. Your Mileage May Vary, of course.
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!The only thing that really sets Kekkaishi apart of other Shonen is all the political intrigue it gets into later on. But if you're like me, and went into it hoping for nothing other than a good shonen...
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."I dunno, I like the fact that both Masamori and Sumiko are stronger than Yoshi... i.e. just because you were born to be heir doesn't mean it doesn't require hardwork to achieve that status...
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!And that's saying nothing of the fact that lately, some of the kid's best results and advancements have been coming from calmness and clarity of mind. It's definitely refreshing in a genre that uses Unstoppable Rage tropes a lot.
To be fair, Yoshi is more of a "Tranquil Fury" type. But yes, Going Hulk every time you need your gharacter to become Bad Ass is getting boring.
296 Spoilers I can't read the Japanese, but looking at the raws, it seems like the white hat guy was a friend of Sumiko's and was actually testing Yoshi. Then again, with Sumiko, you never know...
Oh, btw, the Character page needs updating badly. Anybody wanna help? The main Kekkaishi page needs a few updates too.

Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!^ Fair enough. And yeah, I'd be willing to pitch in here and there.
Do they ever question how nasty that one kid's father is? Because I watched the first episode and thought 'if I'm supposed to consider him a good guy just training his kid, I'm leaving'.
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.Sorry, who are you talking about? Are you talking about Yoshi and his Grandpa? because Yoshi's dad is an outsider to the Kekkaishi world, he is actually a writer.
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!OK, yeah, I think it was the grandpa.
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.Well, I think it comes under the definition of Tough Love. Yoshi was born with the responsibility of saving the world from Ayakashi, and he needs to learn fast. Compare to Naruto, where kids can be Chunin at age six.
It's a Shōnen, so expect heavy duties to be imposed that would be inappropriate for children that age in our world.
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!Yeah, but he's beating the kid up and reducing him to tears on a regular basis! No matter what the situation, that won't make a child tougher - it'll break them down and make them an emotional wreck, or else turn them into an abuser.
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.Heh? I don't remember much of anything like that... I assumed you were talking about the way he makes Yoshimori go out and hunt monsters every night instead of going out there himself. But that's not what you just described, so...
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Well, that's why its called Tough Love
But seeing that Yoshi grew up normally, and even Masamori grew much stronger despite being outright snubbed by his Granpa, I guess we don't have to worry about anything.
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!Well, the latest chapter's scanlated. And it looks like-
Wait.
You're telling me the guy in the hat is Hazama freaking Tokimori? Holy crap.
So... did anyone see that coming? I certainly didn't.
But... how is that even possible?
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."
This is probably some of the most underrated anime I've ever seen... So good and yet really few people seem to know about it. Currently re-watching the anime and hoping for Sunrise to make a sequel. Not reading the manga though, controlling myself for the case Sunrise actually makes a sequel.
No regret shall pass over the threshold!
