Yeah. The moment of, er, impact was offpanel, but she got intercepted by a gun turret, it fired three times, and the goggles she was wearing are broken in two places and on the floor. Picture here along with a sad Fluttershy◊.
Given that Sally was carrying NICOLE at the time, i can think of at least eight ways she might live. Also followed with a few paragraphs on my thoughts.
1: The goggles deflected the bullets. 2: She blocked the gunfire with NICOLE. 3: NICOLE gained mobility and jumped out to protect Sally. 4: Sally wasn't killed instantly and can be sped off the Death Egg to recover. 5: Sally dies, but is revived by the Death Egg's waves/the events of Genesis. 6: Sally is uploaded into a hologram a la NICOLE. 7: As an alternative to the above, NICOLE gives Sally her sentience so she may live. 8: Sonic saves her with his Chaos Force or whatever.
That being said...I've liked all of Sonic's love interests over the years. Liked Mina, Amy, even good!Fiona. But I've always been a big fan of comic!Sally. I only saw the tail end of one episode of Sat AM Sonic The Hedgehog when i was younger, and my appreciation for the character in the comics deepened when I finally saw the whole cartoon series. I've been collecting the comics since issue 116, but read back issues and even read the original Sonic Quest around when I was three. I stood by Sally even after the infamous slap of 134, understanding both her and Sonic's side of the issue. i was interested to see what would happen, and was REALLY interested in finally reading End Game and seeing how the Sonic-Robotnik fight originally went down, as well as Sally's supposed-to-be death.
Having said that... If you're going to really kill her, make sure she stays dead.
Also...Is it bad that i can't wait for the Megaman comic to break away from the game mold a little so we can have Dr. Wily doing crazy stuff like this reality-writing? XD

The Protomen enhanced my life.Whoa. Eggman ain't fuckin' around...
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Just noticed what looks like blood on the BLAM sound effects. o_o
The Protomen enhanced my life....what?
Okay...don't know how to feel about this. I HIGHLY, doubt she'll stay dead. Flynn loves her just too much for that from what I hear. What'll probably happen is that Naugus will reveal he has a way to save her but he has to be granted control of the city first. Sonic will at last concede to obeying him because he wants to save Sally and it all goes on from their.
Ian had this to day about the lack of an 'on-screen' death.
If they'd shown what happened the book wouldn't be all-ages anymore. Given the method, I agree.
The Protomen enhanced my life. She'll get better. I mean seriously, how many main characters have they killed that have stayed dead? One. Robotnik Prime. I do look forward to seeing how they intend to rectify this development.

You forgot Nate Morgan. Or does he not qualify for "main character"? Also: Uma Arachnis. All her children. TOMMY FUCKING TURTLE. Mecha and A.D.A.M. The list goes on. Now, if you're asking about under Ian's run... hm. I've got nothing.

The comics equivalent of PTSD.I define the main characters as the initial Freedom Fighters (Sonic, Tails, Sally, Antoine, Bunnie and Rotor) and Robotnik/Eggman.
That's... great I guess? But that's not actually the definition of main characters. Anyone the viewpoint characters interact with on a permanent basis is a main character - Nate Morgan and Tommy Turtle definitely both qualified, as did Mecha and A.D.A.M. as major recurring villains.
...say, is there a trope for the way A.D.A.M. died? Because I know I've seen it in other places before.

The comics equivalent of PTSD.Ian also killed Sir Connery, a bunch of echidnas, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple more.
The Protomen enhanced my life. All this said, I don't want to see Sally die either, for the same reason a lot of comic deaths are controversial; it's been said over and over, and even recently by Linkara himself, killing characters for shock value is just bad writing.

The comics equivalent of PTSD.Well I finally emailed Archie Comics and they sold me the entire 2010 run. Now I'm just half a year behind (I'm starting to think that I should just buy it regularly). Sure hope that nothing big happens that I won't be privy for until I catch up.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. An interesting post on the topic of #225, as well as Ian's response.
The Protomen enhanced my life.That... does nothing whatsoever to reassure me. It seems all the series I follow are in the hands of madmen who think "shaking things up" means "killing people".
The comics equivalent of PTSD.The thought of Sally being Legionized honestly hadn't occurred to me until someone brought it up. I can't tell if that'd be worse than Sally being dead or better...
The Protomen enhanced my life. For sheer impact...? Better, I'd say. It certainly would "shake things up". She'd be a great asset for... Eg... Eggm... Egah... Robotnik. Having to fight her would be a difficult thing for everyone. Meanwhile, her continued survival would allow both the characters and readers to retain some hope about her fate... a hope which in the short term will inevitably prove empty, Legionization being what it is.
And since Lien-Da could be reconstituted even after being blown the hell up... maybe a direct hit isn't the end for Sally either.
Say, does anyone remember the issue that exposited on the origin of the Roboticizer? Having trouble finding it.

The comics equivalent of PTSD.I assume that's just for curiosity, since the comic has made so the Roboticizer will NEVER, EEEEEEEEEEEVER be relevant again.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThe origin was in the cartoon, far as I know. Check Blast to the Past, my man.

...
The in-universe origin. I'm looking for a specific page - the flashback with a high-angle shot of Uncle Chuck, with the Roboticizer with Jules in it in the foreground.
I'm asking because I have... plans for that image.
The comics equivalent of PTSD.Well, there's this◊ from issue 79.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I thought they were supposed to be the same universe?
In-universe, the Roboticizer did not originate from "the cartoon". I'm asking for the issue of the comic that addresses the fact that Uncle Chuck built the Roboticizer.
That link doesn't work. Also, I checked 78 and 79, they are about the origin of the Roboticizer but they don't contain the sequence I'm looking for, so I think it's earlier than that?

The comics equivalent of PTSD.I believe it's the issue with the camp out? I know that's pre-endgame. Try the 30s.
Had a little check through the covers, I think it was issue 43.

Finally found it. #43 was useful (it's Max getting thrown into the Zone of Silence, thanks for pointing me to it), but the one I was looking for was #46.
The comics equivalent of PTSD.
So do I, but for God's sakes, make somebody other than Sally.
We've already went through this crap once, use somebody else like Antoine.
