no, the point is to make a complete story, as well as gameplay.

SONIC GETS ALL 7 CHAOS EMERALDS. EGGMAN SHOOTS HIM IN THE BACK. EVERYONE DIES.

Sonic goes to buy a hamburger and then he dies.

The gameplay is identical to Passage.

Sonic goes on a killing rampage since Eggman's plans have driven him crazy. You go through the game killing everyone in the entire series, FPS-style. Eventually, you end up shooting Eggman in the end, using the Chaos Emeralds, going Super Sonic and violating Eggman's corpse.
