Roxanne tilted her head at the man apologizing to her and tried to figure out what he meant...
He'd acted improperly when they met? Wait, had she even met him?? And why was his face red? He was angry with her!
Wait, that didn't make sense. Oh! Maybe she ignored him by mistake. Then he was angry but he did something she didn't even know or see and it had been rude!
But he was sorry, so everything was ok! Whatever everything was.
... which, visibly caused to her stare at him blankly for several awkward minutes.
Lorraine glanced at the new 8, seeing her stare at the Fed Pilot.
she rubbed her temples, Please don't let her have a crush. She prayed silently.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Over a piece of ham and from the corner of his eye Jimmy spotted more than one person's face turned red. He grinned. "Courtship happening here faster than ale getting drunk at a temperance meeting."

Lorraine overheard her pilot's comment, but decided to say nothing.
What does that even mean?
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Flint perks his ears and sharply looks in James' direction. While not daring to raise his voice very far, he says "It's not like that! This is about...ah, nevermind. We already resolved the issue anyway, I suppose." He gives Roxanne a brief smile.
Military Lord Dain Keller stepped out of his shuttle and into the station's hanger. He was decked out in his formal uniform, complete with a small row of medals. The diplomats wanted him on the station, officially as a representative from the navy. He wouldn't have to say anything (that was a duty for the Court Lords and Ladies), or even be in the council room, just mingle with the Aces and look impressive for the cameras.
To be honest, he’d rather be on the bridge of his ship. The Castellan was holding position a kilometre from the station. He wanted to be at the helm if things went pear-shaped, and he had a sinking feeling that that was not an impossibility. Still, the Grand Lord had spoken, and Dain was in no position to argue.
As made his way towards the lounge, he could hear the opening speeches begin over the broadcast speakers. Drat, I’m late, He thought as he walked through the hatch, quickly taking stock of the people already present.
"Lord Keller!"
Lorraine saluted, she'd met Lord Keller a few times before but had never really gotten to know him.
"Hello, Sir."

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Jimmy gulped down his last bite and struck a quick salute.
Hobbes looked over his shoulder at the newcomer. His dress uniform was immaculate and a row of medals gleamed on his breast. He was a ship captain, Hobbes realized, and he felt a little shabby in his plain navy-blue Federation dress uniform.
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers. The old man by the window finally looked up. "Eh? What're you doing inna place like this?"
While puzzling over things, Roxy missed whatever her new comrades were discussing. The man, the apologetic maybe-rude guy, was saying something back to them, then smiled at her. She smiled back, it seemed like the thing to do. But maybe it would help if she had any idea who he was.
"Hi, I'm-" She began, then...
"Lord Keller!"
Roxanne jumped to her feet as the others greeted the newcomer, turning towards him and bopping her hand up to her forehead.
"It's the pilot's lounge. We're pilots," Hobbes said to the old man. "Who are you? Station staff?"
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers.Lorraine turned to Hobbes.
"That's what you'd refer to as our Fleet Commander, Lord Heartfield"
Lorraine saluted the old man "Good day, Sir!"

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Dain returned the knight's salutes.
"Lady venne Bannikburg. It's a pleasure to see you again." He nodded to the other young knights, smiling slightly at the younger girl's hasty salute. "Well met, Knights."
The old man snorted. "Talkin' the the fancy man there. And jus' so you know... I'm Loam Heartfield. They called me the First Ace, but I'm retired now. They pulled me out here to make sure everything didn't go t' hell, and get everybody out if it did."
"Indeed Lord Keller. It's been some time, I haven't seen you since the battles at Lai Dame."
Lorraine referred to the border skirmishes that plagued the small system a few years back, eventually ending in a Centauri victory.
She turned to Lord Heartfield.
"I'm glad to see you here sir, it's an honor to meet you."

I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Jimmy spat out the water he was drinking to keep from choking.
"The Loame Heartfield!?" he shouted in awe. Quick as a flash, he was over the table and pumping to old man's hand. "Sir, I've heard a whole lots about you. Its a great honor to meet you. Truely sir, a grat honor!"
Loam looked confused. "Eh- Wha?" He tried to extricate his hand from the youth's grip. "Wait a minute, wait a minute!"
^Lee Jaedong^
Jaedong passed on the awe and praise routine. He decided to get himself some food, and picked out a plain old slice of pizza. Sitting himself back in his seat with a pop, he ignored the happenings on the other side of the room.
Lorraine stifled a laugh "Don't be too friendly, James."
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Hobbes nodded sheepishly and offered the old man a mock salute.
"My apologies, Fleet Commander. I didn't realize, without a uniform." Hobbes offered a nod and mock salute to the starship captain, as well. "Captain."
He settled back into his seat and tried to watch the newscast, but he was growing uncomfortable. He had been feeling more and more outnumbered as the Centauri pilots filled the lounge, and now two of their senior officers had joined the group, while his only backups were Flint, making goo-goo eyes at the baby Centauri, and... oh god, Jaedong. Hobbes visually checked on the hostile pilot on the other side of the room and panicked momentarily when the other man wasn't there, but relaxed when he came back into view, returning from the buffet table.

What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers.Roxanne bowed her head when the decorated man she was saluting seemed to smile in her direction. Apparently he was important. Maybe he could find her a uniform that fit!
Then... what was his name? The man she bumped into when she arrived. He was jumping around talking to someone else Roxy hadn't even noticed. If only she'd shown up on time! Everything probably made sense to the others.
She sat back down, pretending to know what was going on.
Dain smiled. Lai Dame. That sure brings back memories. he'd only met Bannikberg breifly then. The Castellan had carried her and her unit during the final push to secure the system.
Dain turned to the old man. Now that he looked more closely, he realised he had the air of a veteran. He felt a little ashamed of having dismissed him as station staff, as the other Knight had.
"It's an honour to meet you, sir."
Lorraine observed her Federation Counterpart, he seemed uncomfortable. Likely because of the sheer number of Centauri in the pilot's lounge, but that was unavoidable she supposed.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....
Lorraine sighed.
"Public speaking was never Kahlings' strong point, he's a good man with pure heart, but he's not always forceful enough."
Lorraine's attention focused on one of the men shouting accusations, it was Ilwax Pontius Landsteiner, one of the men poised to succeed Kahlings, he was a radical, advocating the genocide of the entire Federation, he was also extremely popular....Lorraine thought of him as a coward and a bastard.
