Made my visit to the guardian website and signed my life away just to make the recommendation for Mr Yudkowsky. Though I could not in good conscience ignore the three other works I also picked to recommend. Which were Fallout: Equestria, The Salvation War and Shinji and Warhammer 40k.

The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect deserves a shout-out too.

[up]What kind of fucked-up circuit is that?

A few. None of them right, I'm sure.

My best guess is that it ties into hat'n'cloak's anti-dumbledore campaign but I can't really say how.

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?

I'm a little disappointed that Quirrell probably won't get to discuss the latest battle with Harry in the midst of this Fiasco.

I bet he could probably plot Hermione out of all of this, but the question will be whether he wants to. Perhaps he'll require Harry to do something in exchange.

Well if she did actually try to kill Draco then I don't think Harry would want to get her out of it.

Regardless of what she did, Harry's contempt for the Ministry is absolute, and he has a very shrewd idea of who is actually pulling the strings there. He knows a Muggle-born will not get any sort of fair hearing, and even if he believed wholeheartedly that she did what she's accused of I can't seem him wanting her in Ministry custody.

For Hermione to turn truly murderous would take more than just trial-and-error mind-rape. Huh. Do you think she might currently be under the Imperius Curse?

PEOPLE. SPOILERS. Give it at least one page!

Now, what is not a spoiler is that we've got some SCIENCE done. At long last. Sure, it felt rushed and lacked a certain oomph, but let's not look a gift pony in the teeth.

There would have been a shitstorm if it hadn't been.

There was something almost nightmarish about how everyone seemed to now expect Harry to pull miracles out of his hat, on demand, any time one was needed. It meant that if you couldn't do the impossible, you were disappointing your friends and failing to live up to your potential...

Speaking from experience, aren't we?

Damien Walter, the Guardian columnist, appears to be up to chapter five. Might have something to do with the way that five percent of his recs were all for the same thing...*laughs evilly*

^^^There was a writer for Doctor Who, not sure who, who said "...[it] was an interesting experience, writing for a legion of fans who would tear you apart if you made the slightest mistake..."

I imagine EY would feel some empathy for him.

There's a possible explanation of what happened that doesn't entail that Hermoine actually attempted murder.

Draco seriously considered the possibility that he might lose. So now that he's having Ideas, maybe he managed to get just the right witness (i.e., someone neutral) at his 'private' duel with Hermoine. If he had won, the witness could have spread the word without Draco having to go through another duel. But perhaps he really lost; maybe Hermoine was beating him so thoroughly that to an observer it looked like she might end up killing him (even unintentionally). So the witness tells a teacher (or the witness is a teacher) and the Ministry is notified.
