This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.

If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

The Forum Rules apply here.

Don'ts

  • Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
  • Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
  • Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
  • Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
  • Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I just reviewed it again and checked the links. I do admit that I do use italicization and bolding too much and recall doing that, though I didn't think there was an issue with that. Is there a time when and when not to use to those things? I mainly used them to emphasize somethings or around something enclosed within parenthesis, though that may be too much.

I do admit that I have had issues with indentations. Is there a way I can practice to see and show that I got it and do it right?

Can I be unsuspended please? I finally read the example indentation thingy and promise to try and use fewer 3-point indents entries.

Checking in again. I have read the Example Indentation in Trope Lists entry and am willing to change my editing habits. I still don't know exactly what mistake I've made, so I have no idea how to correct it, therefore all I can keep doing is coming back and repeating this same spiel until somebody notices. Thank you.

Okay, none of the mods came back to me after my latest reply 3 pages ago where I gave more details for one of the few Zero Context Examples I made. If I ever were to get my editing privileges back, I'll try to be more specific and give more details when I'll be giving examples from then on.

~Rom Watt: I think you are getting confused about how example adding works. First, you need to be certain that a given trope applies. Then, you need a write-up for the trope that explains to readers unfamiliar with the work but familiar with the trope how it applies. In that order.

~Kof4495: Sure, but the page needs to confirm to our rules as well, including these about TV Tropes pages being a collaborative project and not something where one person has the final say on the content of a page.

~Cant Not Look At This Site: On YMMV.Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy you were adding single examples as subbullets to other examples. That is not OK, no lone subbullets.

~Arcane Azmadi: The dispute on YMMV.Ultimate Spider Man landed you here; that's a fairly long example and it reads a little complainy with the italics.

~Infernoid101: This thread would be that place.

[up]Excuse me? Nobody notified me that there was any issue with that, although looking at the history I see my edit was deleted again for "edit war".

It wasn't an edit war. The reason cited for removing my entry was, and I quote, "They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character does not apply for main characters". Nothing about the actual entry itself was contested, I'd apparently simply listed it under the wrong trope, which is fair enough. So, since that was apparently the only problem with my entry, I resubmitted it under what I assumed was the RIGHT trope, They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot. So can we file this as a misunderstanding?

About whether a specific trope applies or not, that was exactly my problem with the Hobo Bros example, I'm the very first one to acknowledge it.

And about the write-up thing, I pretty much need to prepare the description in advance considering I can only edit for about 20 minutes, and depending on how detailed it needs to be, I might need more time to find the right words and write it all down, so yeah, I probably need to write my examples in a notepad or Office Word to make sure it accurately describes how the trope applies before I put it up on the pages.

I've only joined TV Tropes last month, I'm not exactly experienced.

And if I get another Zero Context Example, I would just delete the incriminated example I made.

You rogue launched a TLP plus made some subpar drafts, and I'm sure some of them fall under Yes, We DO Have This One.

Hello,

It appears I have been suspended for my editing privileges. The best I've gathered was that I pushed my opinion as fact on YMMV. I just thought that this was the opinion based on what I gathered on forums. I didn't mean anything by it, but I would like to edit again.

Thank you.

Hi and thank you in advanced. I am Owlcyclops and I have been suspended a few months ago (rightfully so) because of as quote Septimus Heap the Mod on my behavior:

"Actually, it's about "zero-context examples, issues with punctuation, capitalisation, grammar, formatting, spoiler policy, indexing and publishing (almost) blank pages." as demonstrated by the lack of capitalization in your own post." I know that you may not be enough top allow me to be free from being suspended but may I at least be able to use the discussion on the main page with others instead of editing because i am clearly not cut out for that.

Thank You for your time looking this over.

Hi Septimus Heap: Okay, I've found the offending edit. I believe it was my example about Prideaux's torture. I didn't know that was against the rules. Having studied Example Indentation in Trope Lists, I believe I should have formatted it thusly?

Am I right?

Apparently you learned nothing since you last came here, seeing that you decided to get back to adding indentation issues, natter, and ZCEs.

~owlcyclops

I still see some grammar problems. You may need to give the English help thread a try.

Actually, you are here for trope misuse, speculative troping, possible edit warring, using YMMV.Dawn Of X to soapbox, and misquoting creators to justify your speculation.

It would seem that I was suspended. I do not remember doing anything wrong except maybe some minor grammar mistakes. I have not received a PM. Anyone wants to tell me why I was suspended? EDIT: Now that I readed TLP guidelines, I remembered that once one ex-friend rogue launched a trope. If it's that tell me, since I haven't been there since.

Thank you for the time to read this in advanced.Sorry for any problems but can I ask this? what do you mean?

I understand if its the summery in the Supercell Webcomic but is that all? Is it the some of the tropes examples I placed there?, Or is it the grammar of these messages that are the problem?

I cant fix the grammar on the page on my own to after I get grammar advice on the summery of the comic but I could get help from someone on the discord who may not have been suspended like I have. Thank you for your time responding to this if you get the chance.

Hello, I'm a new user. I found out I've been suspended from editing pages. Is this because of my attempts to edit the Dai Mahou Touge page? If not, why did I get suspended?

Hello I’m new and I’ve just recently been banned after I added a trope that looked nessessary but wasn’t to a character page as a result of my newbie status and will be far more careful in the future so if you would give me the chance that would be appreciated. I also have a question as I get most of how editing works overall but I haven’t been able to find out how to do the links to tropes as of yet. Overall I’m sorry if I made some unintentional mistake and if given the chance to help out more in the future if you will let me that is that would be nice and have a nice day or night you guys. Thank you.

To elaborate, ~owlcyclops: The grammar issues I noticed in that post involved capitalization. Capitalizing the pronoun I is not optional, and "you" should not be capitalized midsentence.

~Will426

You were told about how to make links using CamelCase, yet you still neglected to do that. Also, you readded an entry you initially placed that was misuse, so you were also edit warring.

~55975964

You are here for edit warring on the Beyblade Burst Nightmare Fuel page. In addition, you may have plagiarized from another wiki, or have been adding misuse.
