This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Salutations. I was suspended from edition due to inadequate grammar on (probably) an edit that is more than 3 years old at this point, I never took the time to get my editing rights back, however, now I've seen several pages that could use more content, and I don't want to bother third parties every time I make edits, taking all of this into account, may I get my suspension revoked?
The Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Albus Dumbledore Good Or Bad edit you made contains problems with proper English grammar, spelling, capitalization, or punctuation. This wiki is pretty fussy about that sort of thing. We want to be casual in tone and professional in execution. Because casually good is what cool is all about.
A forum thread has been set up for people to get assistance with their writing.

While that assumption ins't unreasonable, I don't intend to do any trolling by asking for my suspension to be revoked, ¿What should I ask in the Help with English topic to prove that I actually intend to make edits again?

Apologies for poor grammar and spelling in my latest edits. As someone suffering from dysphasia and who does not speak english as their native language, I often need to do double checks while writing english since the first things I write are often quite clumsy in regard of langual structure. My latest edits however were written in hasty and somewhat tired mindset and thus came out sloppy without my usual effort, sorry for the inconvenience.

It's been quite a while since I responded to this. I'm sorry. I think I understand where I went wrong now. The next time an edit of mine is changed or deleted, I'll look there to see what happened and what I can do better next time. I'll also make sure I don't add anything else without context. I didn't realize I'd made that mistake. I'll do better from here on out. May I ask, how long does suspension last?
Hello. My editing capacity was suspended (but not banned) nearly one month ago and I merely wish to ask if the "cooldown period" will reach its conclusion any time soon. I double checked the What to Do If You Are Suspended page it said that since there is no fixed time for suspensions, I should not just assume that it will end all on its own and that I would have to ask a moderator.

apm483: I'm afraid that we consider the kinds of edits you made to be the equivalent of hate speech, which is usually an immediate and permanent ban, especially considering the comments that accompanied them. I've asked the other moderators and they all agree.

~Pernamus: While we understand that not all users of our site write fluently in English, we do enforce proper grammar on the wiki. If you are having trouble with this, you may use our Help with English thread to request proofreading advice from other tropers.
For users with severe problems, you must demonstrate that you can write properly by using that topic before we will release your suspension. You can still use other areas of the site, like our forums.

I was adding a picture for the Nightmare Fuel page. I thought it would be a good contribution. I also changed the "-" to "—" to most of the other pages on this website since I believe that the latter symbol is the most appropriate for being in those types of sentences.
Hello, I was suspended 4 days ago for getting into an edit war and I'd like to get my editing privileges back. Failing that, I feel the other guy should get his back as I'm the one who kept it going after receiving the warning (I didn't notice the message until after I made my last set of edits in the edit war).
All is not lost. Not yet.
I'd apologized for causing many edit wars on The Production Curse.
I thought the exmaple that I re-added were suitable for this trope since the non-Fox animated sitcom exmaple are on there despite being a trope about cast and crew.
It would be nice if you give me another chance to edit so that I can continue editing but I learned a lesson since I won't do that edit war again and start asking a question before adding in.

The thread is here, on Ask The Tropers. I would like to note that I did not address Fighteer disrespectfully (I did not address Fighteer at all), and I was participating in a discussion thread that other people were discussing in and expressing opinions similar to what (some) other people were discussing in that thread.
I think that a fair reading of my posts in that thread would show that I was not being disrespectful to any other Tropers and was not using a negative tone towards other Tropers. I was one of several posters providing opinions in a discussion thread.
I would like to have my editing privileges restored. If the price for this is that I avoid the Ask The Tropers forum entirely I will be happy to no longer post on that forum.

~The Sinful: Thanks for coming in. Yes, this is about the edit war between you and ~Krspace T across multiple articles. We've already talked with him, but I should point out that you, too, have been around more than long enough to know that you shouldn't conduct arguments via edit reasons. When they escalate into rudeness, that's another serious problem. It shouldn't require someone telling you to stop for you to realize this.
I am willing to extend some lenience here since it's your first suspension. That doesn't extend to the other troper, since they have been here before and knew perfectly well what they were getting into.
There's a point of editing style that needs to be brought up here as well. It's fine to list examples from fan works that point out or fill in plot holes and other issues with works, but it's not necessary to glorify the details like you're agreeing with them. It's a form of Complaining About Shows You Don't Like by proxy, and it makes the wiki look bad. You could also try cutting down the length a bit. Some of those examples are a bit wordy.
Please acknowledge.
As for you, Krspace T, I've reluctantly decided to offer you a third chance, but I'm quite serious that it is the last one you'll ever get. Do you understand this?

~kokoroanime: It's clear that you believed those examples were valid, since you kept adding them. Unfortunately, this is the very definition of an Edit War, along with a few other problems:
- It's a violation of our rules against "general" examples — see "Examples are not General" on How to Write an Example.
- Don't invent new media categories to shoehorn in things you want to write about.
- The presence of other incorrect examples on an article doesn't justify you adding more.
- Your English grammar and spelling are very poor. I haven't extensively reviewed your edit history to see if this is a common problem, but I see it in your edits, posts, and edit reasons. Before we release your suspension, I would strongly advise that you use the Help with English thread to get proofreading advice.

~jamespolk: At the risk of being accused of having a conflict of interest, I'll chime in and then let the other moderators speak for themselves. However, we've discussed this privately and are all in broad agreement.
Your behavior in Ask The Tropers and in some forum conversations indicates a general hostility towards our moderation policies and the site rules. Rather than bring up your concerns directly, you instead contribute passive-aggressive complaints and sniping in these conversations. I don't know if you think we won't read them, or that we'll ignore them, but neither of those is true.
If it were just about your attitude, we might be prepared to overlook it, but you are sowing disinformation and confusion among tropers who are asking legitimate questions about the rules. You are implying that you have some sort of authority in the matter, despite not being a moderator or staff member. This is unacceptable.
If it were just this one time, we might be prepared to overlook it, but you were banned in October 2018 for the same behavior. We were persuaded to lift it then, but you were specifically warned to cut out the backseat modding in ATT and the forums. The fact that you have continued indicates that you hold either your promise or our enforcement of it in contempt.
It's not just the one thread, either, but quite a few that I've seen recently. It's gotten to the point where all I have to do is see your handle in a topic and my stress level rises because I don't just have to address the question but correct your deliberate disinformation.
I'm going to leave this here for your response. I suppose you could still change my mind, or that of the other moderators.

Well, aside from the copious resources of the Internet, proofreading and spellchecking software, courses both online and off, help from friends and family, and a forum topic that we provide for that very purpose and have mentioned to you several times, there is absolutely no way for a human being to improve their English grammar. I'm totally with you, there.
It's okay, though. I have another solution. Since you have decided to be hostile to the very idea that we should expect you to write properly, you will now be permanently banned so that the issue doesn't have to come up again.
By the way, we deal with ban evaders all the time. Don't imagine that you're special. Have fun being angry.
