This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

~Fredhot 16, given it's your first thump, and first suspension, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. Try to keep in mind that tone is atrociously difficult to communicate online and using stuff like "fuckos" in a public forum is a quick way to being labeled a troll.

Was I suspended because of my edit wars with another user, being rude to said user, or both?
I take responsibility, and can accept a permanent suspension or ban since I've had issues on the wiki in the past (including past suspensions for different reasons), so I figure I might not be a good fit for this site because of how I use it. However, if unsuspended, I'll do my best to continue learning from my mistakes.
In terms of explanations, the edit wars were mostly to undo his edits specifically because they were getting on my nerves and he was continuing to be a poor contributor, not because of the content of the edits themselves. In terms of civility, I was only ultra-sarcastic to him today because I finally snapped; my previous comments to him were a bit condescending but along the lines of "please stop, you aren't gaining anything from this".

Not really, but I was probably just being inattentive. I figured that time had passed, and since other tropers re-added the tropes and WhatArtThee was the one to re-delete them, I looked at it in a biased manner and figured that people were okay with the tropes and he was just causing more chaos.
I understand that, regardless of their history on the site, if a user like him makes an edit in line with other tropers' views and requests, then I shouldn't declare it invalid. If allowed to edit again, I'll bring up such issues with the mods immediately instead of continuing edit wars out of spite. Same if I get frustrated with other users: instead of yelling and snarking at them, I'll bring it up ASAP with the mods or on Ask The Tropers if I really feel that I can't be civil with them.

I only reignited the edit war because someone added it back. We agreed to put a moratorium on this debate, and someone added it back, so I commented it out again. I TRIED to take this whole thing to the discussion page, and i specifically commented it out because I didn't want it to continue. I don't feel I deserve to be suspended for that minor offense, that wasn't even my fault. I really like this site and don't want to be locked out of being a part of it.
I'm sorry for being such a jerk about such a trivial manner about the darkness of Sun and Moon, i will try to fix my attitude later on.
Can you please unban me?

YMMV kinda implies you might agree or disagree how a well a trope applies to a piece of work, right?
So, there was I, arguing on the discussion thread, before I got suspended, that some lines of dialogue were narmy; the user I was discussing things with took it as if me, and others (as I was not even the first one to put one of the lines under narm) we were against some of the "feminist" dialogue — whereas I pointed that Green Arrow has a long history of being a liberal hero in comics for longer than most millennials have been alive (which is true, if you go back and read the Dennis O'neil and Mike Grell series) and what people were pointing out as narm was not the content, but the delivery of certain lines of dialogue.
I honestly thought I was arguing as an adult, I didn't yell, I didn't cuss, I didn't call anyone out, unless pointing out Green Arrow being a social justice warrior long before most millennials were born is seen as such, and I thought I presented my points as clear as possible.
Is the only thing I can think of that got me suspended when discussing YMMV.Green Arrow
In fact, I noticed I got suspended because I was gonna change the narm entry under green arrow to remove the example lines and just leave it at how some people considered Ben Percy's dialogue to be written in such way as if he wanted it to trend on social media, and thus narmy for some.

I have been starting less edit wars recently. I only edited out this one because we had agreed to putting a moratorium on the debate and leaving it commented out.

~Darthrai and ~What Art Thee: I think that something was missed in our communications about the scuffle over Pokemon Sun And Moon. Nobody gets to edit the example until the issue is resolved. That does not mean to comment out the example, nor to put it back. It doesn't mean to wait until other parties to the discussion haven't replied in some arbitrary time limit and then make your preferred edit. It means to leave it alone.
What Art Thee, I really hope you understand why, "I'll try to start fewer edit wars," isn't a reassuring statement. The proper number of edit wars to start is zero. You're going to have editing turned off for a while. How long will depend on the consensus that we arrive at.

I thought I was discussing it! Last thing I did was argue on what was narmy and why, and before I could even see if there was a reply I got suspended.
And as I said, I was actually gonna edit that entry and remove the specific lines and point out instead that some dialogue by Ben Percy is narmy and leave it at that, it seemed less harmful and a good compromise.

Hello, i'd like to appeal my ban, i was just trying to spread awareness of that "Older cartoons airing somewhere internationally on T.V." trope and i accidentally typed it all jumbled. I'm sorry and i would never do that again
The reason for my suspension is because of my inability to write a full article on a movie. Can I just say that maybe I played the cards too early and wasn't ready for a full page, and that I can still just edit small things on pages? Also I will contune using the get help with English page until I've proven to TV tropes that I'm ready now, but it's just something I though should be said.
