Yeah, the third season heavily references the plot of the OV As. But it also shows the villains of the first two seasons, Goultard, and even the power limiter from the superhero episode.

One of the things that bugs me most about the OV As and Season 3 isn't that it's dependent on previous seasons, but that it's dependent on stuff that isn't even finished yet. The comics are all about the Eliatrope Dofuses, and it's not even finished yet, as far as I know.

I remember scrolling past this show on Netflix and being like, "wtf is a wafku? Oh it's French lol" and never giving it the time of day since it looked weird but then I heard some good things about it and saw a some clips on youtube last night and was like, "...this is kind of cool?" I only watched the first episode but from what I've seen of it + the clips the animation truly is incredible and changed my mind on flash animation in general. I kind of want to watch more haha.

It's like a French Dragonball.

Oh yeah, they're pretty explicit about Dragonball's influence, especially once you get to the Bouf Ball arc. But the animators avoid Ki Beam spams and recycled frames.

I remember going into Season 2 and upon finding out Yugo's origin, went "Wait, Yugo is Superman???"

Watched a bunch of episodes yesterday. Got to S1 episode 17 I think? Yeah I'm hooked now, the goobalball or whatever it's called was an AMAZING set of episodes, with some absolutely brilliant animation. It was beyond epic.

Also I'm loving Nox, dude is just insanely cool and is becoming one of my favorite western animation villains ever. His VA(French one) is really good too.

Make sure to watch the Nox special then, either when you're done with the first season or before its final two episodes (25 & 26).

Sadly I don't think the Nox special ever made it to Netflix.

Note that the Nox special is done in a completely different animation style from the show, as are some of the other specials. I got confused the first time I saw it and assumed I had found the wrong video.

Ironically, the differing art style didn't stop them from flashing back to it during season 3.

Also, the sport is called Boufbowl.

Admittedly some of the wakfu jargon is kind of hard to remember and sounds kinda nonsense, it's partly why I prefer the original French dub as the English dub only further highlights this and comes off as kinda narmy at times as a result. It did get easier to understand once I realized majority of the classes were French words/brand spelled backwards.

Speaking of classes, how come sadida guys look so dorky while the women are super hot? In fact just about all the women are pretty nice looking bar obvious exceptions.

I just hit episode 25 too, so I'm glad I stopped there. I'll watch the Nox special next.

Just finished season two and while there were some good parts it feels like a step down from last season. Probably going to take a break and watch Dofus before moving onto the specials and season three.

Just finished the bouffaball episodes for season 2. Highlight of the season so far, Kriss le Krass is freakin great and the hug scene was hilarious.

I have a question though: what classes were Maude and Marilyin?

Also loving Remington. So far out of all the S2 characters introduced, he's my favorite. Not a fan of Rushu though. His design is a bit boring and he's too goofy.

Maude is a Sram. She has a skull mask when she's in her civvies. I don't think Marilyn is anything- one of the difficulties of the show is figuring out who's what.

Remington was kind of "eh" to me. His general role to betray someone, fail miserably, betray someone again rinse and repeat. He was too mean to be endearing and too dumb to be intimidating.

Interesting that you liked the s2 Boufbowl arc. I thought it was a case of Arc Fatigue.

It got especially silly in the last episode when the need to take it up to 11 meant that they left the freaking stadium and chased each other around the city while the stadium was nearly destroyed.

Finished S2. While Rushu was pretty lame entire season, I thought quilby ended up pretty cool even if he went through a jarring shift in personality once his true motives were revealed. That was kind of the point but it takes getting used to at first. I'm also glad I never looked up what was under Yugo's hat initially as it would've weakened its reveal last episode. While I like Nox more as the big bad, I do feel like Yugo/quilby had a more meaningful relationship with one another. Plus Yugo was at his most badass here. Quilby's freakout at the end of the fight was delivered really well too.. The last episode was just spectacular overall. And dat music. Man.

Yeah Remington is obviously outclassed and loses a lot(you don't really expect him to win anyway) but I liked that he was consistently a scumbag and the biggest case of Chronic Backstabbing Disorder in the show yet. Never trust a rogue. He did suffer some Villain Decay no doubt but him shooting Eva brought his bastard level way back up as you don't expect him to actually do it being a kid-semi-friendly show and all. And TBH he got off easy for doing so.

Another character whose class I was confused on was the Brokmar king, the prissy dude with the white makeup who instigates at the council meeting between all the rulers. He was also in the boufball episode.

I'm trying to think of which episodes from both seasons I liked the least, and I think the gummi tribe and moon island take the spot. Also the one where amalia had to talk to the great elder.

So should I watch the OV As or dofus next?

I'd recommend the Ogrest movie, then the Dofus series and its movie, then the three OV As, then finally Season 3.

Ahhh okay. I just watched OVA 1 and it seemed like a big jump across time, so I was slightly confused if I missed something. I didn't know Ogrest came before it.

I think Xelors are my favorite class. They have such a cool fighting style.

I wished they showed more Male Enrispas in the series, because they seem to look cool.

Eggggh Ogrest in English is a bit insufferable. Ogrest himself is so annoying. TBH I find it pretty meh overall, though I at least get who ottomai is now.

There is nothing between the end of season 2 and the OV As chronologically. The specials are all backstory.

The Dofus movie explains a mildly confusing line in the OVA's where Kerubim calls Joris his Dad, but yeah it's not really necessary to understand the main plot.

As someone commented above, the OVA's and season 3 take place after a comic that isn't finished yet. It doesn't tie into the story of the OVA's in a way that the OVA's can't explain. Since the comic is probably not going to get an official release anyway, the only thing you might want to know is that they kill off Phaeris on Yugo's birthday to make the Big Bad of the comic look tough. His death is used as a threat against Yugo's friends and family to blackmail him into going on a fetch quest for seven Macguffins.

Just started season 3...holy crap. That's certainly a way to start off the season.

Toxine and Aurora are pretty sexy aren't they? But more importantly, wtf is Adamai's problem? Dude was cool in the first two seasons but he's a straight up monster now. Beating up a pregnant woman? Also he looks like Mewtwo kind of lol. But wow he just became my least favorite member of the Tofo brohood.

Man what a first impression though. This show is sooo legit.

Yeah I have. He was being a dick there and now he's an even bigger one.

Just finished the dark vlad fight. That was so freakin awesome. Really loving this arc so far.

And now watched the Bump fight. I wasn't expecting the feca god child to be so...perverse lol. He really wanted Yugo's underwear lol. But man...finally yugo and amalia have a kiss and then Yugo screws it all up. The Yugo/amalia shipbase must have gone crazy watching this.

Just 3 more episodes left. And I gotta say, Toxine is one of my favorite villains in the show.

I feel like season 3 started strong and then went downhill. Overall, I found it disappointing.
