Tats isn't just shouting at clouds, he's writing to pander to those who spend half their days shouting at them and the other half tilting at windmills

Well we all know Tats is only making his comic for a certain type of audience member. He's said it before and his actions towards both times his audience turned on him are evidence.

Is it really surprising that he's pandering?

I wonder how he would react to Pepe being trashed.

I'd have mixed emotions. On one hand, I always thought those cartoons were sort of heavy-handed and tedious — "Okay, Chuck, we get the joke!"

On the other hand, Pepe Le Pew served as a great role model to little boys for how not to act if they're interested in girls.

Sometimes they mixed it up. I remember quite fondly when he kept getting mauled by a wildcat and when Penelope managed to turn the tables on him. But we can't all be Wile E.

Pepe le Pew was unfortunately a bit lionized in quite a few of his cartoons. I think a better version of that trope would be Johnny Bravo. He was literally the pretty, empty headed blonde that he presumed all women were. And all the women he hit on were more capable/intelligent than him. Also he dated a literal deer at one point, which is totally unrelated to anything we're talking about here, but I can never resist bringing up.

I remember that episode. It was very weird but kinda sweet.

Well, Katie Kaboom didn't notice that Chicken Boo was ... an actual chicken.

The bears are ... peculiar, as elements of the narrative. Especially the darker bear, with the Black Power/BLM fist. It wasn't that long ago that Tats liked stuff of that sort.

More and more I'm leaning toward the theory that Tats has acquired a new girlfriend, one with markedly different views than those Tats had been espousing.

There's a fairly prominent blogger who started out as a middle-of-the-road Democrat but became markedly conservative after 9/11. But in 2008 his politics suddenly shifted, and he scorned right-wingers. Rumors — from people who claimed to know — asserted that he had a acquired a left-wing girlfriend, and he had changed his politics to align with hers.

Well, this pretty much sums it up.

For a excruciatingly long time Tat has been broadcasting his very own Woke TV where it was indeed not at all about liking it, but about being what he considered right.

I doubt if this is self awareness or self criticism in any form we'd recognize, so either we have moved into negative self awareness, or he's just about to renounce everything he's been doing for the past decade, and go full Incel Proud Boy right before our eyes.

Perhaps his radical feminist girlfriend finally deserted him, and now he's going to flip full polar opposite.

I would not be surprised if Sinfest's Woke TV is supposed to be a critique against Netflix, which has made mission statements about diversifying their programming as much as possible. Besides catering to a wider audience, they have explicitly said that they intend to be a "force for good" in doing so, which ought to really rile up guys like Tatsuya. Tats might pretend to hate wokeness due to it being a tool of the Patriarchy (if he still even claims to be a radical feminist), but I think it might be that he's upset over something changing in a show he used to enjoy and now he's out for petty vengeance.

That’s right, Hex. This isn’t something the “Mary-Suesterhood/Anti-patriarchy Feminism” Era Tats would do.

Woke Monique defied the Gender binary too, yet now Tatty Boy mocks the binary-defying Potato Head.

Seems like his ideals have changed yet again. His hatred for EVERY kind of Trans people is clouding his judgement and makes him throw everything remotely pro-trans under the metaphorical bus, including previous “woke” beliefs he had.

Which would be whole lot more effective if he didn't have Xanthe / the Sisterhood gushing all over it in universe with his shitty "woke" ideas for series and terrible all-female remakes of Die Hard and Jaws!

My predictions for future Sinfests and forum topics are as follows: -

Tats ends up renouncing radioactive feminism and fully embraces the conspiracy section of the alt right's most pathetically unstable incels and losers

The Sisterhood go to jail or have some kind of Bus Crash

Monique and Absinthe split up or Absinthe dies. Monique gets a boyfriend

Tats starts rewriting Monique to be less of a toxic person

Tex and Dixie get more positive screentime

Tats starts ranting about news in general - "Wake up Sheeple!" in a disconcertingly rabid alt right wing tone. He starts piping the worst of Fox TV directly into his brain in place of research or thought

He keeps on comparing Twitter to Nazi-ism.

(Are the stormtroopers stacked in a holding pattern by his front door by now? No, they're not even within 100 miles of his basement, because a) Tats doesn't matter and b) he's getting to be more fascistic than they are)

He goes fullon, buck naked, foaming mouth, berzerk in his webcomic when it comes to Trans issues

My guesses:

• New girlfriend, with views that are significantly less left-wing. (Variant: No new girlfriend, just a breakup with the old one, and Tats is backing away from her politics.) As a result, we'll see less and less of the Sisterhood, although Xanthe is involved in some of the non-radfem plotlines that Tats has had on the back burner for a decade or so. (Was the old girlfriend a blonde?)

• Tats or a member of his family was beaten up/threatened during the BLM/Antifa "disturbances" in mid-2020.

• Hypothetical daughter has broken up with her girlfriend/wife; Absinthe somehow will be written out of the narrative.

• A close friend or relative transitioned, and Tats couldn't deal with it. Bonus points: This person regretted the decision and might even have tried to de-transition, and Tats really couldn't deal with it.

Hmmm, loads of symbolism, but it all boils down to one thing

"Alt-right good, left bad"

And I mean alt-rigt in the form of "your average Republican voter is a pinko communist" compared to Tat's seeming vision

Two things stand out though - the nasty, and strong, undertones of racism in panels two and five

Some background that might or might not help in understanding this:

The orange ball is a takeoff on the the logo of the "76" gas station chain, formerly "Union 76" owned bu Union Oil of California, but since sold. There have been advertising campaigns that included giveaways of orange-painted styrofoam "76 balls" the size of golf balls that drivers stuck on their car radio antennas.

As for the significance of "19" — perhaps a counterpoint to "76," as in 1619 vs 1776? A Web search on "19 symbolism" turns up a bunch of Biblical, Tarot, and numerological references, but I didn't see anything particularly political. (Number 19 is an auspicious number being associated with success and honor. This number is filled with joy and happiness. Number 19 is made up of the first and last single number; 1 and 9. This makes number 19 a number of completions. Number 19 is the number of beginning and end.) What the frak does that have to do with this comic? Who knows?!

I see ideology rather than racism in those two panels. The second panel has (generally) left-wing groups attacking a right-winger. The fifth panel has Young Sam, wearing a red hat, playing a video game that pits the blue Philadelphia 1619ers against the red Boston Racists (real-world basketball teams: Philadelphia 76ers vs Boston Celtics). As to what the point of this is, I haven't a clue.

This Sunday page may go down as an important turning point: THIS is the place where Tats disappeared head-first up his own asshole in self-referential allegories that mean nothing to anyone else.
