Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

VIIR is amazing because those involved can indulge their nonsense after Nomura embraced the madness and was one of the voices of reason for the original.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. The lies, they flow so fresh and fine.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Firstly, and this is the only time I'll ever say anything like this about a fictional character, FF 7 R Tifa's probably the most attractive videogame character of all time. Just so we know where we stand on that
But about the gameplay thing, I dunno. Sometimes I have a lot of trouble with a fight (I rarely die just because of how the game is set up — it really is an RPG wearing an ARPG disguise — but it takes a ton of time and a lot of revive-die-revive cycles) and just find them frustrating and poorly designed. Then I look up some Hard Mode No Damage runs and it turns out most bosses can be fairly easily beaten if you have the right materia setup and strategy, and I feel like a scrub. But like, not all difficulty is fun? In more action-oriented games and even some RP Gs I enjoy getting my ass kicked over and over until I learn a fight or figure out a strategy and breeze through it afterwards. So, even if there is an optimal strategy to discover, if the discovery process is not fun, then there's cause for complaint anyway. On one shoulder is an angel saying "games are supposed to be fun and it's okay to dislike certain fights, mechanics or even games if they're unfun for you" and on the other is a devil saying "git gud" and doing the Giantdad gesture.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I can say without a single drip of irony or lies that Barret is way hotter then Tifa and has a nicer rack to boot.
Barret is conceptually attractive but I can't manage to see him as a sexual being in the slightest. He's like a big cuddly teddy bear.
I used to be on the Tifa train myself but then Remake!Aerith stole my breath, my heart and my willpower to look at anyone else.

x2 For real, they went full ham on making Barret really really hot and did not skimp out on his tit size either. He's also slightly less stylized then the rest of the cast so he ends up looking a bit less uncanny which is where Tifa tends to lose points for me.
She does that.
I'm sure that dude she gave that Groin Attack to is still trying to catch his breath.
One Strip! One Strip!FFVIIR was one of the most fun and interesting entries into the FF stable for years. The story was familiar enough to scratch that nostalgic itch, but had enough new material to feel like a new game again. Tge choice to make the game a sequel rather than a traditional remake was inspired. Outside of the air, combat was fantastic and fun. And the character writing was top fucking notch. It made me care about the disposable AVALANCH members. That's not nothing.
And the crazy wasnt from Nomura. He only does that with his own toy box. He wanted to do a straight remake, but the original scenario writer for FFVII wanted to go nuts.

Yes. That’s what I mean. He embraced the insanity of the writer.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. That the character writing in VIIR is so strong I feel it helps you get away with a bit more of the nonsense.

I'm honestly impressed that, rather than embracing the stereotypes of what they thought the characters were, they actually decided to be accurate.
It gave us Chairith Painsborough. And that is enough.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh yeah, I have plenty of issues with the plot but the characters and dialogue are excellent.

Apparently they confirmed a demo is coming sometime this month.
Eh, I'm that trailer actually left me a bit cold on Origin.
It's probably the macho/edgy all male party. It's just personal preference, but I do generally have a preference for female characters.
Daisuke Inoue, the director of Final Fantasy Origin, worked on Dirge of Cerberus, FF 13, and Lightning Returns. Explains a lot really.
A timed demo (until June 24th) will be coming out today for PS5 only.
Guess I’ll be checking it out once I finish R&C Rift Apart
Also, key art and renders for the main characters

Not really impressed. If it's a really a prequel to FFI, it doesn't look like it. I mean literarily. They don't look like the FFI classes.
Also if this is a prequel of Final Fantasy, they should have used the Chaos' backstory from Dissidia where Chaos is a manakin who was forced to be used a bioweapon when a military threatened his adopted mother. And when his parents tried to save him, his mom died, and Chaos was full of rage
It's hard to be that excited for stranger of paradise given what they showed and who's working on it. Definitely not what I wanted.
I don't normally call things cringey, but honestly that's what I felt when I saw the SoP trailer. It seems to be trying way too hard to look hardcore and serious. The amount of ways the main guy just repeats "FUCK CHAOS. I'm gonna kill Chaos." is like a joke.
