Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

To be released in 2032? :P
I would play an Agni's Philosophy game. I imagine something between The Last Guardian and playing as V in Devil May Cry 5, where you play as the female protagonist, but she's largely defenseless and the creature does most or all of the actual fighting. Of course, it's dangerous to get ideas about what a game is going to be, maybe especially because it almost certainly doesn't exist.
That or it’s more like a Commander Shepard & no one says each other’s first names.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Avoiding Tidus' name wasn't so bad in FFX, but became laughably stupid to the point of a parody in X-2. The awkward and unnatural way they did it was so dumb. What was the point? Yea, OK, you could name him whatever in X, but this didn't carry over into X-2. The developers should have just been like 'You can name him anything, but in the sequel we are going with his Canon name.' What, did they fear that people would be confused as to who this Tidus guy was if they used a different name in X (and with all the confusing things in this story, that was their limit)?
Was Tidus Voldermort?
-Witty line-It was kind of bad in X.
"Now you will die. Prepare yourself, son of Jecht."
Early 2000's were a wild time, man. There was simply no way anyone could have thought of just... not having you name the main character when debuting voice acting in your series. Now we have so many Tie-dus vs Tee-dus fights despite the latter clearly being the correct one don't @ me bro.
Can't you make entire books without using people's name's even once in Japanese of it can be gathered from context who you're talking about?
The jump to voice acting was rough for most games. It was basically the same inconsistent jump going from 2D to 3D and had some rather massive growing pains.
FFX for example tried to match the mouths of the Japanese version leading to some hilarious pacing issues with lines. Then they just ignored it for future games before actually setting up a system to change the mouths for the different versions and rerendered every FMV for their respective versions.
IE go google how different the FFX-2 Japanese and English FM Vs are, they changed the movements but also added more effects due to X-2 being delayed in the West. Also the 20 gig DLC size for the Japanese VO for Lightning Returns... was the FM Vs along with movement data.
So what does everyone think of VIIR's main theme, "Hollow"? And how would you rank it compared to other vocal themes from the series? (or simply, what's your favorite FF vocal theme?)
The scene that stuck out to me even when I first played it was Yuna's speech at the trial in Bevelle after learning the truth about Yevon. Her voice actually getting heated and loud as she argues, which is different from her usual tone, and she's passionate.......and would have had more impact if her mouth didn't stop moving 10 words earlier.

-Witty line-But I wanted to experience this really badly synced dub...withyunabymyside
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowI was waiting for someone to reference that :D
I never valued the "immersion" of picking character names, Tidus is his own person, he isn't me, so I'd rather they just have a canon name and not have to awkwardly avoid it in dialogue.
Hollow's cool, the instrumental version is way better though.
The other voices were pretty good. The only thing I didn't like about Rikku's was her adding 'You know' to her sentences. Really ruined the big dramatic reveal about the pilgrimages.
-Witty line-Yeah, I think I get more involved in a story when the character is an actual character. Not that choosing their name lessens their personality at all, really.
"Soon" could still be awhile.
I do want playable Red. I haven't been able to play as a quadruped in an action game since... Ehrgeiz I think? And that actually had Cloud in it too...
Bleye knows Sabers.I could see them having an option to make it so you can download the other parts and attach it to Part 1 or buy a seperate game disc for the later parts.

Oh well, at least XIV isn't losing it's head.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Well, it was only ever a rumor anyway, so I'm glad I never put that much stock into it.
I think FF 12 is the best Final Fantasy. I liked the realtime battle system a lot.
I can't change my profile pic. wtf. I think It's a bug. I already searched it.The Matsuno games (FF 12 and FFT) are the only FF games that really strike a chord with me, with the exception of VII. Not that I think the others are bad games, I have enjoyed most of them I played, but none of them would crack my personal top 10 or whatever.
FFT I get but, personally, I find XII rather zzzzzzzzzz.
I like the presentation, storytelling style, worldbuilding, dialogue and translation (the best localization of any japanese game to date possibly), and most other things about it. Other than the decision to not make Ashe the main character directly, the questionable character design, and it supposedly getting weaker towards the end (haven't gotten to that part yet, I stopped at Pharos Lighthouse because I got distracted with other things), I don't have much to complain about.
So either these characters are going to be Featureless Protagonists, or they're going to do the FFX thing again and bend over backwards to avoid saying their names.
Or they're going back to text-based dialogue.
