Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Lets not pretend it's not like Fans have been clamoring for this for like, 15+ years either.
I haven't been asking for it. I always though they would fuck it up.
There's a lot about the original that hasn't aged well.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.I love you Primis! Someone finally knows Skies of Arcadia! Great example and really focuses on the dynamic of the main trio while still giving enough screentime to the rotating fourth slot and none feel tacked on either. Love that game.
All I remember of Skies of Arcadia is I played it when The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Clichés started becoming popular and Skies of Arcadia felt like it was going down that list like a checklist.
But from what I understand, it went down that list in a way that was still entertaining.
One Strip! One Strip!x4 Don't try to pretend this is some noble attempt at making FFVII "the game it deserved to be", the reason they wanted to remake it is because they know a billion people are gonna buy the game on release day and they'll cash-in their biggest profits in years regardless of the result.

It's what i vaguely recall yes.
Exactly. They're kind of forced to have tight quality control on the end product so they don't embarrass themselves but even if they didn't this game is going to be a massive success anyway because it's called "Final Fantasy VII Remake".
I'd argue they need to make sure the first one is particularly good to make sure people buy the follow ups, but if Pokemon has taught me anything a brand name speaks far louder than quality ever did.

x1 and x3: If it means that they can retire the brand on something resembling a high-note, I can keep it down to a low grumble. (Cause, uh, it is LONG past time that they put the "Final Fantasy" IP out to pasture.)

x5 — Absolutely. Skies of Arcadia is definitive proof that Tropes Are Not Bad.
x1 — With FFXV becoming the fourth best-selling title in the series (the best since FFX, 19 years ago), FFXIV being a massive hit, and hype for the franchise being at an all-time high with the FFVII Remake, now seems like an... odd time to kill the series.
I think they meant the FFVII brand, to which I say yes, a thousand times yes.
Well, the "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" project was originally supposed to end with an FFVII Remake, so yeah, they'll probably be done with it after the last episode of the Remake is released.
Speaking of which, anybody seen this?
More VIIR pictures and info detailing the Wall Market
Honestly outside of Cissnei and MAYBE Shalua I don’t dont think they can write in any Compliation characters that chronologically make sense

GOH! JII! RAH!Good, I was afraid we would have to suffer another of Genesis's stupid and annoying poetry. Because Nomura.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Oh you know Genesis is going to be a bonus boss somewhere in VIIR, not in Midgar but probably in disk 2's post game.
It wont make much sense but it will be there.
I want a Genesis bonus boss. Put him where you get Vincent's last limit or something.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireJoke boss you find in the Gold Saucer
New theme music also a boxAll that previous talk of FFV has made me want to play it again. Imagine my disappointment in seeing that the Playstation Store version is the translation trainwreck PS 1 port. I was hoping the mobile version would be ported over to it but with a non touch pad interface. I think the Steam version has that format.
Granted, FF Dimensions wasn't so bad with a touch pad, but I read that FF mobile versions can crash easily.
-Witty line-You're correct, the Steam version does function like that. Did a complete playthrough with no technical difficulties
Most annoying thing about the steams ports I've found is..
1)No keyboard support for 7 is a real pain and I hate using game controllers
2)9 has a crashing bug that randomly happens when you enter combat (any combat for that matter) that they still have not fixed
New theme music also a boxCorona virus locking me in so I’m going to be playing “Final Fantasy IV” on my sister’s DS.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Heads up that those who are looking into pick up the physical version of VIIR may see some shortages and delays if you preordered the game, thanks to the whole corona virus pandemic affecting delivery services. Amazon was already affected. They annouced that all "non-essential" deliveries (basically any non-medical) are going to be likely delayed for the next month or so. Which sucks, but its understandable given the situation.
So yeah, I might just cancel my order on Amazon and just preorder the digital version for now.

GOH! JII! RAH!
Remaking VII is something they've wanted to do for ages.
