Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Vivi eats up all the wangst points so the time they have to fixate on trauma is limited
It kinda does fit with its throwback nature
Unless you're the designated trauma character for the moment stuff like that is glossed over
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!Through 9 I had problems with the script. Mainly that it has a big character distribution thing where you can tell who were the most interesting party members to the staff, and if that wasn't the core 3, you either stop talking or just fade into obscurity by the plot. I like a lot of the core ideas, but the execution feels kind of undercooked.
Kind of have a similar thing to a lesser extent with 7. There's definitely a lot of moments of personality especially in the second half, but 7 sort of holds its real cards too close to its chest until late game. Especially with Tifa, love the design, her fighting's great, but if Aerith hadn't kicked the bucket she'd be constantly overshadowed.
"No will to break."Since the remake and rerelease train isn't going to stop chugging along any time soon, I hope IX's the one they set their sights on next.
I feel like I've probably said this here before, but something along the same scope and graphic styling of IV's 3-D remake, but on the Switch and with some added content so that Quina, Freya, and Amarant don't feel largely superfluous after their limelight moments would be nice.
And make Beatrix playable since the fan base is infatuated with her genocidal ass.
In all honesty given the trouble they're having with 7's remake trying to remake 9 would be just as hard.Though if they've lost the source code for eight they well end up having to remake it from scratch just like they did with Kingdom hearts 1 (allegedly anyway)
New theme music also a boxIt doesn't need to be a massive AAA blockbuster the way VIIR's going to be. They've been pushing for more mid-range games like Octopath, I Am Setsuna, and World of Final Fantasy that are much cheaper and quicker to develop lately, and with IX's already colorful, borderline chibi art style it's a lot better suited for something along that range.
They could probably do something similar for VIII.
I think that's why in an RPG, the dialogue I'm most critical of is inter-party discussion. A lot of these kinds of games sort of assumes the party grows close, regardless if any of that's shown. So when a game does write some dialogue between them that's not just praising the leader, I respect that.
For all the things 15 didn't do well, it absolutely delivered on a dynamic between the group. At times that all it really has.
"No will to break."How about 9 remake adds a bossfight against Beatrix where you're actually allowed to beat her and not suddenly lose to her after dsropping her HP a bit because the devs don't want Beatrix-sama to lose or look bad ever
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you know"FF9 has minimal focus on Garnet's trauma" is definitely not accurate.
That's not what a creator's pet is, but yeah, usually you'd expect hopeless boss battles to be overcome later in the game and not having that happen was a strange choice.

Garnet's backstory is mused on by Doctor Tot (to himself, as I recall?) after he notices Eiko's horn.
https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Garnet_Til_Alexandros_XVII
Garnet washed ashore in Alexandria where she was discovered by the king. She looked almost identical to Princess Garnet who had died not long before from illness, with the exception of the horn. The king ordered the horn removed and that she become a replacement princess. Garnet was raised as the princess of Alexandria, having lost all memories of her early years.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.I'm really glad they had Garnet look just like the Queen's old daughter. I was afraid they were going to go the direction of "of course she's adopted. She's pretty and Brahne is ugly".
There was a theory someone proposed that that the original princess didn't die as they were led to believe, they're very much alive, and that person happened to be called..Ruby,who was replaced by wait for..Garnet I'll admit it's been awhile it's only now that I realised the connection between the two stones, they're easy to mix up due to their red colour
Also
"Ruby was going to play the role of Cornelia in Tantalus's production of the play I Want to be Your Canary, but she had the part unintentionally stolen from her by Princess Garnet"-Wiki
Which makes it even more obvious if you ask me
New theme music also a boxRuby and Garnet look nothing alike. Garnet was apparently adopted because, horn aside, she looked exactly like the original princess.
How would she have ended up living as Ruby though? What would have made people think she was dead?
I actually think it's a fun theory, but it would need a bit more meat.
One Strip! One Strip! That's some "Squall is dead" level stuff.
This song needs more love. Not quite the same level as that it's " they happened to have two characters after gemstones and at one point one takes over the role of the other in a surprising coincidence"
New theme music also a boxWhere did the whole "Squall is Dead" theory originate?
At one point he gets impaled and comes close to dying, and some people think he really did die
New theme music also a box"IT WAS ALL A DYING DREAM LOL" is the most creatively bankrupt of fan theories if you ask me. Plus its born from yet more fake-profound edgelords wanting everything to be dark, dreary and depressing. I tend to ignore that shit.
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowI'm up to the World of Ruin.
This...must have been a pretty big deal back in the day. I didn't expect to be so close to finishing the game since I only started it like what, 4 days ago, but here we are.
IX kinda does that
