Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

That's right
you are the only person in the world and among the 8 million people that bought it that enjoyed it at all
Edited by Hashil on Nov 17th 2018 at 8:35:37 AM
Everyone else bought it out of spite just to throw it away
Cept me... I bought it cause I thought Paine was hot
Yes I'm shallow but I'm also Honest
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!"eternity memory of lightwaves" is the best thing to come from x-2
This was the major opinion for a long time.
Nowadays the consensus seems to be the best things to come out of X-2 were that song and also the battle system. I don't get the love for the latter but tons of folks dig it.
Paine is smokin' hot. I wish there were more JRPG girls with her design.

See I like to pretend that I don't like this game but, truth is, I'd be exactly like Rikku in this opening cinematic, bopping my head and wagging my finger while taking zoomed-in pictures of not-Yuna from the crowd like some kind of stalker.
Once again I guess I have to dump a list of my favorite songs from this franchise:
What exactly was the purpose of adding Noel to the story? XIII-3 makes him feel like such a pointless character in hindsight.
It'd be interesting to play an RPG from the perspective of a character who wants to destroy the world.
It manages to be less advanced and yet infinitely less frustrating than 13's battle system. It pretty much is 13's system except you actually feel in control of the party, and the classes aren't streamlined into 5-6 generic roles.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I do think if XIII had more than 6 roles people would of received it better. It makes sense gameplay wise, but it really feels like you have no say in much of anything but party comp.
In response to your quotes, Noel's purpose in the game is to be a link to Yeul and Caius. Villains and support characters are better when they have some personal attachment to the protagonist.
Also only Noel could kill Caius for good, I think.
And as for a JRPG about destroying the world...Shin Megami Tensei IV.
Lets be fair by XIII-3 most of the major party members are pretty much regarded as superfluous outside of Lightning
having been thrown into roles so they can atleast show up 'cept poor Sazh'
I'm still disappointed, Serah and Noel didn't have their own unique Eidiolons
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!Serahhhh! Ermm she should have been more involved in XIII the Third.
Mileena MadnessWhat does this thread think of the Junction System?
Kidna interesting, especially with the Refine system, but broken as fuck and makes using magic seem like a waste.
X-2's main story is a pretty decent commentary on power vacuums.
However, I don't think the real world can be united with an amazing J-pop ballad.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Well of course not, that be ridiculous.
Only rock can do that.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."X-2 was a pretty great follow-up to X in terms of how Spira changed. I've always enjoyed the New Yevon vs. Youth League conflict and felt it was very believable.
That's because we have two-party conflicts and power vacuums in the real world.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.I think if I was to play X-2 again I'd enjoy it more. Back then, I didn't understand job systems; I wanted everyone to be able to do everything all the time. Now I'm more comfortable with a character having a more defined role.
The fanservice didn't hurt either.

I genuinely like FFX-2... Many elements are straight up better than FFX, some not so much aka the completion percentage.
X-2's political stuff and how the Farplane was implied to be fudged up from sending Sin, the Aeons, Yu Yevon, Yunalesca, etc. at the same time were neat. They even worked the latter into the battle system. The sidequests were also pretty good and even got pretty spooky, like the Den of Woe.
That said, you still have a giant robot weapon from nowhere that doesn't really fill Sin's shoes due to it not even really showing up or doing anything until Chapter 5 (as opposed to Sin's frequent presence and wanton destruction in X) and the two opening chapters of fighting what is essentially Team Rocket.
There were parts of X-2 that worked well and parts that didn't. I liked it overall, but I can see why a lot of people had issues with it. The shift in mood makes sense in context, but it also makes for a really weird first impression.
Remember my idea of Project X Zone but with Square Enix instead of Namco?
What would the character interaction scenes be like?
To play FFXIV you need to have a subscription to FFXIV through the mogstation (the MMO store). You do not need a PS+ subscription.
However, first you will need to buy the game and create an account. It costs $20 if you buy the base game + Heavensward expansion, or $30 if you buy the game + Heavensward + Stormblood.
Finally, there's a free trial that lets you level up any job up to level 35, with no time restriction. If you want to try the game first.
Edited to answer the second question: there are no platform specific servers. Both PC and PS 4 players can play on the same server/world. And the game is quite popular so chances are you'll find other people to play with.
Don't be discouraged if the worlds seem empty when you start though, there are a lot of players at max level, hanging out in the high level areas.

Wait, how do you 'borrow' that game? When I got it, you needed the disc for the install and that was it. If you borrow a disc from a library and install the game, you've got the game forever, right?
Can the same disc even be used for multiple installs? I have a feeling there'll be an activation code too.

What if Square never merged with Enix?
Am I the only one who kinda liked FFX-2's opening theme?
