Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Well none of that is really important where Phoenix is at. I think "they were made to help humans' is a perfectly valid answer, if not a complete one.

My favorite Fal'Cie is the Bulkhead Fal'Cie in the Gapra Whitewood.
It's literally a door.
Its entire purpose in life is to be a door.
Nah the store Fal'Cies that you access every save point are the best, they even wish you luck in chapter 12.
I'd love to hear its thoughts when Hope and Light are whining about being l'Cie.
Heart of StoneWait, what?
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyI didn't know the save points were Fal'Cie.
I mean, I know the Fal'Cie as a whole are covering your tracks while you access the online retailers you access at save points, but.
Like.
Does that mean that the FFXIII equivalent of Amazon dot com is just one Fal'Cie?

If that were the case, I can't imagine what he thought of me as I bought 60 vials of "enigmatic fluid".
"You told me it would be exciting, didn't you?"The first time you enter the shop menu in chapter 12, the scrolling text changes to a message cheering you on and asking you to end it.
In chapter 11 it tells you 'the network trail has been concealed' since its Cocoon stuff on Pulse and still helping you out.
Lenora's garage was ran by Maqui trying to help out, but the network was a Fal'Cie or operated by one.

That's not the same as the shops being Fal'Cie though. Which is what you claimed.
Like, logically the machine gods that control Cocoon society can cover up your purchase records.
Which is distinct from that being the sole purpose in life for one of them.
The network is apparently a Fal'Cie, the interfaces are just sanctum tech to access it.
The network itself talks to you a couple of times.
I mean, what actually gets said is vague enough that they could be talking to you through the network rather than being the network.
That seems needlessly complicated.
Xenogears and Chrono Cross already beat you to the "villains are monitoring you through saving" thing, XIII.
I know that's just the tone of this playthrough, but is not being the first to do that really a thing to rag the game about?
Then again, Xenogears and Chrono Cross were also Square, so eh.

I have a message from another time...Take note that both Xenogears and Chrono Cross had Masato Kato as writer and Hiromichi Tanaka as producer, as well as other shared workers. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Man I totally missed anything about the save points being monitored by villains in XIII.
Can anyone fill me in on what is said?
I wasn't being that serious. Apparently Snow and Hope's whole subplot comes from some other game too but that means nothing to me. I still like it.
Kato was not the main writer for Xenogears - that was Tetsuya Takahashi - but it's plain as day to me that his time on Xenogears profoundly influenced his work on Cross. Cross feels like Kato's attempt to do his own Xenogears but in the Chrono-verse.

I think there was something on the log about a Fal'Cie being responsible for providing food, so it don't would be a surprise that one controlled the Internet. The Fal'Cie Fang proposed to attack and branded Dajh controlled the generation of geothermical energy, by example.
Man, FFXIII had such good ideas but handled them so badly.

You claim that God is opressing us, but I see you opressing others without needing a God.Carbuncle, the Fal'Cie in Palumpolum, provides all of Cocoon's food, which makes the fact that there really isn't anything guarding it a little worrying. Light and Hope could've potentially crippled the whole place.
Heart of StoneConsidering Kujata branded a child over the slightest sense of threat, branding people must be its defense. Not that the Fal'Cie themselves lack in combat ability, as we see from Anima and Barthalandeus.
You claim that God is opressing us, but I see you opressing others without needing a God.Also, I think there's a fal'Cie in Yusnaan in LR? Which is where most of Nova Chrysalia's food comes from.

Heart of StoneNo wait, seriously, go back to the "villains are monitoring you through saves."
I need to find this.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Well, there's the Sanctum Labs.
"A Sanctum prototyping laboratory dedicated to the production of next-generation combat gear. Your visit to this site will not be detected by the military, l'Cie. Your access trail has been concealed by the fal'Cie from the very start."
And R&D Depot.
"An experimental military research facility specializing in arms manufacture and bioweapons development. Seize the means to fulfill your focus, l'Cie. Fal'Cie power will see it delivered unto you."
And that's how it makes sense for you to buy shit from the military trying to kill you. Because the people actually in charge of said military want you to win.
Eden Pharmaceuticals also has some similar stuff, but it's vague enough that it could just be marketing?
"A Sanctum-affiliated institution in the public sector conducting both academic and industry-sponsored research. Let Cocoon's own sciences empower you as you help to fulfill her destiny!"

Well XIII lore spoilers, tagged since we have someone playing XIII but no direct spoilers.
Humans are just tools to the higher Fal'Cie, Cocoon Humans were crafted by Lindzei to basically be his personal army to open Etro's Gate to find Mwynn. Lesser Fal'Cie are tasked with support jobs for the army.
Gran Pulse humans were tools too but are subjected to Pulse's Survival Of The Fittest policies and he predicted that the strongest would open the Gate. Pulse Fal'Cie were tests, challenges and occasional support to craft that strong person.
