You know what, I think that I have to do this one too.

I am a lover of Winnie the Pooh. I mean, who doesn't love Pooh? Somebody probably. But we're not here to do that.

I'm here to collect all fans of Winnie the Pooh. This can be a place for everybody even though it's primarily Western Animation that most people are familiar with. From the Many Adventures, to the New Adventures and more.

Describe how your love for Winnie the Pooh started. How's that for a first post?

Perhaps my first exposure to Winnie the Pooh was from the old audio read along book. As I vaguely remember that before actually seeing any of the actual animation.

Hmm... I'm not completely sure what was my first experience of Winnie the Pooh(or as he's called in Finland, Nalle Puh), but I had couple of options: we had the movie in VHS-tape(I want to say two, one official and one recorded), one Adventures Home Video(maybe two?) and a lot of comics.

I remember watching VHS tapes of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. They were my introduction and from there I fell in love.

Even as an adult I find so much to enjoy from Winnie the Pooh. The humor that occasionally makes my grown ass self laugh his ass off. The good morals that are pretty timeless. And the occasional deep storytelling with some gems like Poohs Grand Adventure and The Tigger Movie.

I think my first exposure to Pooh was My Friends Tiggerand Pooh, which was still airing when I was five-six or so. I watched the Disneytoon movies a bit after that, but I didn't rewatch them all till I got Disney+

Still one of Disney's most charming franchises.

@Patar 136 Same. My first exposure to Pooh was a New Adventures VHS with "The Great Honey Pot Robbery" and "Stripes'. A pretty good sample of the usual funny antics and surprising leaps into understatedly deep wistful storytelling (though I was rather disappointed to discover that Stan and Heff weren't the series' recurring villains).

Pooh to me is the ultimate example of "less is more", keeping the characters and storylines very simple and approachable but utilising it in such a charming and heartfelt way that it all still feels very endearing.

Just to note that another Pooh series has begun but it's, ehhhh, different:

I miss the golden days of 2D animation. It was so cool and now it's practically gone unless you are Japan, and even there, it's struggling at times.

One of my favorite moments was when Rabbit got so mad at Pooh, demanding how he possibly got inside?

Pooh: The back door was open.

My earliest exposure to Pooh was probably The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, with the original A.A. Milne books and Pooh's Grand Adventure following not long after that.

Pooh's Grand Adventure remains my favorite Pooh movie to date, and some of my favorite New Adventures episodes include "Find Her, Keep Her" (for being quite possibly the most emotionally riveting episode of the series), "The Piglet Who Would Be King" (if only for just how utterly insane it is), "Sorry, Wrong Slusher" (for being another off-the-wall episode), "Luck Amok" (for being one of the funniest episodes of the series IMO) and "Groundpiglet Day" (for being a good Rabbit episode and another one of the show's funniest episodes).

"Luck Amok" has probably one of the funniest moments in all of Pooh. When Tigger ends up destroying Piglet's house, Piglet is so traumatized he can't even talk. He just has this mute blank expression of sustained terror on his face and it always makes me laugh my ass off.

And yeah, I consider Pooh's Grand Adventure to be an underrated masterpiece. And I know that term has lost meaning but it's true. I helped write a detailed analysis of it on this very website and it just has so many amazingly stunningly good traits that I can overlook its flaws. It has a lot of subtly, thought and maturity thrown in there that it's almost astounding. The movie just deserves more attention because of how amazingly crafted it is.

I think Grand Adventure and The Tigger Movie were the high point for the cinematic Pooh series (despite both of them ironically being intended for Direct To Video, shows the effort they still put in for Pooh).

Many Adventures is of course great, but it always felt kind of like a pilot for the franchise ongoing, like they knew New Adventures and the Disneytoon works would follow with more ambitious storylines that fleshed out the characters further.

I feel like after The Tigger Movie things kinda gradually dumbed down into a more Aesop heavy preschool format, though I thought Roo's character arc throughout the remaining movies was kinda cool.

I'm going to rank all the Winnie the Pooh movies from worst to best. I figure that could be fun. And keep in mind, I'm probably going to miss a few entries. So apologies if I miss your favorite.

10.) Winnie the Pooh: Seasons of Giving: It probably doesn't deserve to be on this list but it is what it is. It's really more of a compilation video of various episodes, good episodes, from New Adventures, but it has some nice moments, especially with Kessie seeing Rabbit again. That makes any fan smile. Still, not a lot of new content added otherwise and something has got to be the worst. But hey, it's still okay.

9.) Pooh's Heffalump Halloween: I can't even call this bad but it's pretty forgettable. I don't really remember it being that funny or insightful or deep. It's just kind of harmless and generic for Pooh standards. The classic new adventures Halloween short being added is pretty funny and cute but also implies the movie itself doesn't have much to offer. I guess there is an aesop about not being afraid but we've seen this before in Pooh and done better.

9.) Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year: This one has more new material compared to Seasons of Giving and is similar in presentation, but works better. Nothing spectacular but the humor in this movie is what sells it. Plus there is somewhat of a clever aesop of realizing that you shouldn't try to change too much or else you look crazy and that New Years Resolution are kind of silly in the first place.

7.) Springtime with Roo: The best of the holiday specials. This is basically Christmas Carol but with Easter. It's hard to pinpoint why I can't rank this higher than the others but maybe it's just because the story just, feels stock. Now look, it's Winnie the Pooh I'm not expecting every film to be a deep masterpiece but when I compare this to the rest, it's not as impressive. That said, I do love that Rabbit gets to be a main character for once because that is the best thing this movie has going for it. Funny that the title is wrong but who cares. Rabbit movie exists, and that makes me happy.

6.) Winnie the Pooh 2011: Yeah, surprising I know. Call me cynical but this movie just has a whole lot of... nothing. It gets to be above the last few entries because it's a lot funnier than most and the animation is better, plus the new cast actually are doing a good job which is nothing to knock... but the story isn't all that great even if the humor is nice. I am very sad though that this was the end of the 2D era but that isn't enough either. If only it were a better story that could make me appreciate more of it. It just feels like a worse version of Pooh's Grand Adventure which is probably why it's as low as it is, but still elevated because of some neat stuff.

You all can anticipate my next 5.

Anyone have ideas for potential movies focusing on Eeyore, Owl, Gopher, and Kanga? Seeing how Tigger got The Tigger Movie, Piglet with Piglet's Big Movie, Rabbit with Springtime with Roo, and Roo with the Heffalump movie, what if they had continued the train and made movies with Eeyore, Owl, Gopher, and Kanga in the main lead role.

As someone who never minded Gopher, I'd be down for a Gopher movie.

I think I would be down for a Kanga movie. Good mothers deserve more respect imo and Kanga is just so nice and supportive to everybody instead of being dead like most Disney animated moms (although this trend is becoming less common I suppose.)

I don't even know what it would look like but maybe you focus on Kanga alongside Tigger and Roo. They have a good dynamic.

One of the episodes from "New Adventures" I remember most was the 'Gone With The Wind' episode where Piglet overcomes a fear of the heavy winds and saves Pooh from nearly falling to his death off a cliff.

The clip above cuts off before Piglet and Pooh land safely on the ground, making it look like they both plummeted to their dooms (probably intentional).

As a kid, I remember thinking Pooh looked funny with the back of his shirt torn off.

I think if there is one thing that is consistent with Piglet, is that no matter how scary something is, the scariest thing of all is losing his best friends.

And he realizes that some things are too important for him to be afraid.

Curious how well Piglet would get along with Fluttershy if they ever met?

Ditto with Rainbow Dash & Scootaloo ever meeting Tigger & Roo?

I once made a funny rewrite imagining if the characters became older. I got this exchange.

Pooh: You know, I think that it's very important that I am always one step ahead of storing honey.

Rabbit: What do you mean? You have a house. Do you need a refrigerator?

Pooh: Well, no, but if I want to always stop the Heffalumps from taking my honey out there, I should store it in here (points to his stomach. Rabbit stares at him for a bit.)

Rabbit: You know what, Pooh, I would love to be you for about ten minutes.

Pooh: Hm, I like being me too.

Rabbit: No doubt, you bear of little brain. I don't think I would accomplish anything but I don't I would care very much.

I feel like for Kanga to work in the limelight they'd have to flesh her out more, she'd need a token foible like everyone else. Maybe she's a bit too protective of Roo, something that's only really hinted to in occasional works.

It felt a bit like Heffalump Movie was gonna be a study for her along with Roo but it didn't really go like that (Heffalump Movie is probably the weakest of the limelight entries, Tigger Movie did more to flesh out Roo).

This was one of the good points of the 2011 movie, they managed to make Kanga part of the antics without seeming too out of character.

Brought this up ages ago on Twitter, but anyone else think it's annoying that since Pooh is technically in the public domain, all we're seeing from it are schlocky slasher horror films and a body horror puzzle game?

Not everything has to go through a horror filter! Why don't we see more imaginative takes on Pooh like with Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio? Yeah, that was set in Fascist Italy, but it still managed to have heart in spite of it. I'd pay top dollar to see Guillermo Del Toro's Winnie the Pooh!

I heard one studio was planning a prequel on how Pooh first stumbled into the Hundred Acres Woods. But I don't know how legitimate the source of that is and who is making it if it really is happening.

I'm glad that there is consensus on how utterly horrible Blood and Honey was. It is easily one of the worst things I've watched. Partly because it's just such an empty movie. It has basically nothing to do with Pooh and is so generically bad that it's infuriating.

They couldn't think of anything to do besides the most stock premise: oh, the bear and pig are evil and eat people. They canonically ATE Eyeore! WTF?!?

It was just a kind of broken premise and even for a broken premise, they could have played some fun satire and charm if they straight up gave a shit about the source material. Instead they made a boring generic slasher movie and it has basically no identity. It's not even so bad its good. It's just so bad it's bad. It's so cheap. Pooh obviously looks like a guy in a cheap as hell bear costume and so does Piglet.

They just wanted to make a Winnie the Pooh horror movie, but made zero effort.
