Noticed there wasn’t a thread for this. Here it is.

Plot from Wikipedia: When a gullible Border Terrier named Reggie (Will Ferrell) is abandoned on the streets by his selfish and ruthless owner Doug (Will Forte), an animal-hating drug addict who never wanted him, he teams up with other strays including a street-wise Boston Terrier named Bug (Jamie Foxx), an Australian Shepherd named Maggie (Isla Fisher), and a therapy Great Dane named Hunter (Randall Park) to get revenge on Doug.

Trailer:

Okay with all that out of the way, Doug is the worst excuse for a human being I have ever seen. Cheating on the GF, keeping her dog that he hates out of spite, trying to get rid of the dog, then finally trying to kill the dog? HE GOT OFF TOO EASILY. THERE. I SAID IT.

All the trailers and ads are making it very explicit this is not a kids' movie, and yet I know there's going to be parents taking their kids to this and then being like "OMG this is inappropriate for kids! This is false advertising!"

With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptation

[up][up]I haven't seen it, but I've read the trope page and I'd say the fate of losing your dick is pretty karmic...

[up] It wasn’t enough for me. The man is not in jail. He is not a pariah. He is not burning in Hell for his sins, his selfishness, his refusal to take responsibility for his own failure as a human being…

[up] I mean. Losing your penis to a pack of stray dogs is still a grisly fate at the end of the day. One could even argue that it's a fate worse than death. Like, can a guy even have sex (aka one of the more raw forms of basic pleasure) without a penis?

I don't know. You might be overthinking it.

I don't know about the rest of you, but the trailers make it feel like one of those movies that think "gross/rude = funny" and that it coming from a cute dog is enough to keep the audience's attention. That and the use of that one Snoop Dogg song that was everywhere on the internet during the dreaded MLG phase makes for a rather unpleasant experience.

I think I'll be skipping this one. Tainted by the Preview is strong here.

[up][up] To be honest, I have a very Jerks Are Worse Than Villains mentality right now.

I had a friend who really wanted to go see it. It's one of those movies where you get what you expect. I had a few chuckles but it is definitely relying on a lot of vulgarity between the swearing, humping and poop. It tries to treat the story as a metaphor of getting past an abusive relationship, which is very superficial because it can't decide on if the dogs are innocent/naive or worldly/clever.

Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!
