ITT: We Are Monsters on a Spooky Quest

Silas, Ahdon'thurtmeI'mahero!

The Weaponborn steps backward and orders his levitating swords to spin to deflect the spikes. He grunts in pain as more swords leave his body to try and protect the other monsters.

(Elisa, being a flier, has no trouble clearing the spikes. Jacoby, panicking, does as strong of a flying leap over the spikes as he can, just barely clearing them.)

Nice try! (Elisa says, diving at Erik again.)

With the battle starting, Kevan simply breathed fire at the cobwebs instead of dodging them, before launching some fireballs at Erik, who then conjured a large wave of spikes..

   "You forget something, you moron... I CAN FLY PAST YOUR PATHETIC WEBS!!"    Kevan roared, flying past the wall and hurling himself towards Erik, attempting to strike him with his sword.

The spikes disappear when Erik is hit by both Elisa and Kevan.

Ooh, ganging up on me, huh? Three can play at that game! Or four, or five...

Suddenly, Erik creates seven copies of himself. All eight Eriks circle around the team, spinning around, so fast that it becomes nearly impossible to tell which one was the original. Then they stop spinning.

...Or ten! the Erik clones all say at once. Now, which one is the real me?

Silas, This is Getting Out of Hand

"What in..." Silas mutters, removing his swords from his allies and splaying them around him. His eyes dart from Erik to Erik, trying to find the real one.

"Well this isn't how I expected it to go..." he mutters.

Gah! Really??? (Jacoby gasps.)

Oh, great. Quick, Jackie, try to punch one of 'em or something! (Elisa calls.)

(Jacoby nervously runs up to one of the eight extra Eriks and takes a swing at it, while Elisa dives at one of the other ones.)

In order to confuse the enemy and avoid any harm to him and his teammates, Yami began to create illusion copies of himself and the rest in order to confuse them so they wouldn't know who they should attack.

   "Now that's dirty..."    Kevan furiously grunted when Erik cloned himself and surrounded the team. Not that it deterred the dragon-man.

Kevan gathered his strenght before breathing fire at as many clones as possible in order to spot the real one.

Jacoby and Elisa hit two of the Erik clones. They both shatter like glass and disappear. There are six Eriks left. They all laugh menacingly, their laughs echoing throughout the battlefield.

But they stop laughing when Yami creates his own copies. Hey! the Eriks all say at once. Copying my copying? Now that's low!

Kevan manages to breathe fire at all six Eriks. They all flinch, but the third Erik from the left takes just a second longer to recover than the others do.

Guys, did you see that? says Melvin.

You bet I did! (Elisa says.)

See what? (Jacoby asks, not anywhere near as perceptive as Elisa.)

THAT one's our guy! Let's get him! (Elisa says, flying toward the third Erik from the left.)

(Jacoby isn't sure which one the others meant and swings a punch at another one of the fake Eriks.)

Silas

The weapon born grins. He knows this next move will possibly be dangerous, but he groans in pain as multiple swords release from his body and float around him, revealing rotten, decaying skin beneath as he fires the swords at the real Erik.

   "You're mine."   

Elisa and Silas' attacks hit successfully. They're super effective! The Erik clones disappear, and Erik is left floating in midair, stunned.

"Now, everyone! Time to end this battle!" says Eleanor.

Silas the Weaponborn

   "You've fought well. However, you are no match for many monsters at once."   

Silas snarls as his black speech grows louder and louder, filling the room with a hateful noise.

   "I know not what you did, but your sins end here."   

he growls, and his decaying flesh ripples as several more swords pull themselves out of his body and hurl themselves at Erik.

Let's get 'em, Jackie! (Elisa calls to Jacoby.)

(Jacoby cringes and swings a punch at the real Erik.)

   "We're done with you, scum. Out of my way!!"    Kevan roared, joining the others by trying to stab the real Erik.

The monsters all land their hits on Erik. He is badly beaten. There is a flash of light, and suddenly, the Amazing Technicolor Battlefield disappears. Everyone is back in the tower.

Despite his injuries, Erik smiles.

That was the best fight I've had in a thousand years. I'm impressed with your team.

Erik holds out his Crystal Bat. But then he frowns.

I guess you've earned this... although it pains me to give this to you. There's a certain someone who I was saving this for...

Silas the Weaponborn

Silas frowns in thought, not that anyone could see it under the swords that slide back into his decaying flesh. "Ah, my apologies." he hesitantly says. "If I may... who were you saving that trinket for?" he tilts his head curiously.

Do you know where the Crystal Bats came from? said Erik.

Not really, says Melvin.

Well, let me tell you how they were created. You see, in this world, there are ten Elements of Fear: Blood, Bones, Crystal, Electricity, Ooze, Shadows, Smoke, Steel, Vines, and Web. Each Element is represented by an Element Master, an eldritch creature that exists outside the boundaries of our world.

10,000 years ago, the Element Masters created the Crystal Bats. I don't know why. But my mother is one of the Element Masters. And I, uh... haven't gotten along very well with her in the last few millenia. I wanted to make it up to her, so I found the Crystal Bat she created, and I'm hoping she'll come by to visit when she sees that I have it.

...Whoa... (Jacoby says. He's still very nervous, especially considering what he thinks they might have just gotten himself into, but it blows his mind just how far back the Bats go.)

Hey, uh, you're not going to be in trouble if she comes by here and you don't have it, right? (Elisa asks.)

No... I just thought I could impress her with it. What do you all want the Crystal Bat for, anyway?

The king asked us to collect them all. He says that he has a plan to integrate humans and monsters and end the prejudice against us.

Hmm, interesting. I don't know a lot about humans, so I don't know if he can be trusted or not. But if so, this could make our world a much better place.

Erik hands the Crystal Bat to Eleanor.

Here, you all deserve this after all your troubles. I think my mother will be impressed enough when she sees how I've been ruling the spiders, as well as my tower.

   "Huh... I guess that makes sense if those bats can grant wishes."    Kevan said as Erik explained the origins of the Crystal Bat. The dragonman relaxed a bit as, true to his word, Erik gave up. He still stared at Eleanore's remark.

   "I'm still not trusting that human king of yours, just to let you know."    he grunted.

Thanks, pal! Believe me, once we get all the bats, you'll be able to go anywhere you want! Like me... (Elisa chuckles.)

I sure hope so. (Jacoby says.)

Well, what are we waiting for? says the Web Crystal Bat. Let's go find my siblings!

Suddenly, all of our heroes suddenly have their eyesight go black. Their hearts start to glow red, and they see a vision of a derelict train station with a sign reading Smoky Sky Station.

Then, their vision goes back to normal.

You all saw that, right? Smoky Sky Station? says Melvin.

This "crystal dust" in our bodies is very strange indeed. says Eleanor. I suppose that's where the next Crystal Bat is located.

(Jacoby yelps as he gets a vision of the next location they need to go to.)

That's still kind of throwing me for a loop, but, uh, hey, least we know where we're headed next. (Elisa says.) ...Name sorta rings a bell for me, actually. Maybe I flew past it once.

I know that place. I haven't been there in a few centuries, but I still remember where it is, says Erik. If you wish, I could use my powers to teleport you all there right now, but I'm afraid I don't know what you will need to do after that. What do you say?
