Is there a crime or legal forum this can be posted on? I don’t wanna veer too far away from the film industry on this thread.

(We are talking about how former film producer Harvey Weinstein got his rape charges and sentence overturned in New York.)

I hear Sony is going to buy Paramount, so I guess this is transitioning.

I hope this doesn't become similar to the situation with Warner Bros Discovery.

I had a heart attack that I thought Paramount being sold to merge with WBD was a thing and the Paramount ceo is replaced by David Zaslav until I saw Skydance there

I don't know if any one company is going to be able to buy the entirety of Paramount. I would hope their would be anti-trust procedures to spread things out.

Even if there aren't, it'll probably take years for all the kinks to be worked out.

I do agree that a lot of Hollywood films lately have been lacking creativity. It feels like most movies are trying to follow the most popular trend and rarely step out to do something original. Granted, there are still films out there that are trying to do something different, mainly the arthouse films, but when it comes to the blockbuster films, they all feel the same.

It's less that the economy is rough, and more that a bunch of ceos and executives want a little extra money for a new boat.

They ALWAYS want that, it's just that in better times they have to do it somewhat less.

Former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider is suing the producers of Quiet On The Set for defamation, claiming they painted him as a sexual predator.

Note that the documentary simply state he was an abusive boss and even features testimony from people who say they don't think he was a sexual predator.

Even if he isn’t a pedophile, he still enabled the toxic behavior towards the kids.

There is a weird trend that came along with the cinematic universe trend to homogenize a brand, which would of course lead audiences to be apathetic if the brand has duds.

Yeah, I always said people are being selective on experiences especially with inflation (apparently good economy and inflation are considered two different things to headlines) and ticket prices increasing like its a smelly seat is a rare luxury
