Might wanna post this in the Tomb Raider reboot thread itself (which I know is gonna be a byatch to find since it's been untouched for several years now). The mods are probably gonna end up closing this thread.
Yeah, I tried searching for it and went through like 25 pages of search results with no dice. I spent my due diligence for 5-7 mins looking for it specifically in Video Games before making this one.
Moderators, could you please link that thread before you close this one?

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Yeah, could someone please link that Tomb Raider franchise thread? I also searched for it but only found this one.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyUhhhhhh, how's the Shadow of the Tomb Raider thread for this purpose?
But this thread wasn't for that game? I mean, I've not even played Shadow of the Tomb Raider yet.
That thread hasn't seen a post in two years, though. At this point, it seems like this would be a better franchise-wide thread than that one, though you may want to (or ask the mods to) drop "2013 Reboot" from the title.
And to think, I just searched for this thread to ask a short term question from someone more knowledgeable about the whole series. I'd been working on a hypothetical Smash moveset for Lara, and wanted to know what key artifacts had historic significance to the franchise, like Excalibur or Mjolnir.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyMy Smash Bros moveset for Lara is now pretty much done. All moves are done, and now all that's left are the "extras".
The sad, REAL American dichotomyStraight from Netflix Geeked: Hayley Atwell is voicing Lara Croft in Netflix's upcoming Tomb Raider animated series.
Happy 25th anniversary, Tomb Raider.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Happy anniversary, Ms. Croft!
The sad, REAL American dichotomyThis weekend, for Tomb Raider's 25th anniversary, pretty much all the Tomb Raider games on Steam are 80-90% off!!! My backlog is so long, but I may still pick one up!
The sad, REAL American dichotomyNice, I loved the 2013 reboot, so I might use the sale to pick up the rest of the reboot trilogy.
Is there a way to get "2013 reboot" dropped from the thread title to make this a franchise-wide thread?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyEdited the title.
Macron's notesSweet, thank you!

Embracer group is buying Crystal Dynamics off Square Enix.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Huh. I've never heard of Embracer before.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyTHQ holders, so........Gex might come back now.
Sanity is the Lie, there is only Madness. Can we still blame Scott if Gex comes back?
Help me. I can't get it out of my head.I just hope that the writing on the next title will be a step up from the Survivor Trilogy. I don't dislike it per se, but they really could've done more than having Lara tread the exact same character beats for three games straight. Shadow in particular really fumbled in its attempt to balance Lara the smol fragile neophyte and Lara the mass murderer. Plus all the plot threads it dropped gave the trilogy a rather disjointed feel *cough* Sam *cough cough*
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)Bumping this thread because Aspyr's remasters of the first three Tomb Raider games (the OG Tomb Raider games made by Core Design) have been recently released for the PC and the current and last-gen console formats. Digital Foundry has a video about the performance of the remasters on PC and consoles.
The performance of the remasters is near-perfect, targeting 60 frames per second on every platform, although the "classic" graphics mode is locked to 30 FPS for some reason, I guess that was a feature that the remasters' developers wanted to preserve.
Okay, so I recently got this game a few years back during a 'free' promotion on Steam and sorta breezed through it without thinking much on it. Was fun, enjoyable, and relatively forgettable at the time. Maybe I was just too busy in real life to truly appreciate it.
Coming back to it now, I have a whole newfound respect for this game. It is a perfect reboot, imo, of the game series. It is the start of Lara's adventure into being a badass heroine that dual wields guns and performs crazy acrobatic moves. The action set pieces are completely ridiculous, but in a fantastically cheesy way. Gotta suspend your disbelief and just go with it. Lara can survive any injury and still walk away just fine from ANYTHING. It's all in good fun and the action heavy scenes of hilarity just cement this game as a fun ride.
Another thing I didn't expect I'd love so much is the treasure/scavenger hunting for GPS caches, relics, documents and of course, the hidden optional challenges. Some are quite maddening to figure out and/or find, but once you do, it is so satisfying to 100% an area.
Combat is quite simple, but has enough depth and a decent upgrade system to keep things interesting throughout the game, giving you enough XP and Scrap to upgrade your skills and gear at a decent pace given the length of the game. I love brutal-killing cultists in the endgame with my overpowered skills.
Not game of the year by any means, but definitely a great reboot and start to Lara's new journey. I'm actually now interested in other games in this new continuity as a result. Hopefully they'll be just as good. What do you all think, for those that played this?
