Will probably buy it just to play competitive (admittedly this is the same to SWSH for me as well)

Not sure about the art style they went with but it has time to grow on me. Now the question is...which starter do I choose? A classic, like Piplup, or something new to me like Chimchar even though I don't like the Chimchar line. Decisions.

While I would've liked a Sword/Shield graphical-style overworld design, the chibi overworld honestly doesn't seem like a bad idea. It actually reminds me of the Link's Awakening remake.

I feel this was a no win scenario for this; if they kept Sw Sh's graphics after all of the shit it got, we'd be complaining about that too. Soooo, I think it looks....ok. But like yea, I don't think I would have been excited either way, so I'm not gonna be too pulsed about it.

Honestly they could go with more streamlined XY/ORAS graphics. 
I'm not thrilled about this. DP had some neat ideas, but the execution was kinda iffy. Going full 3D would do a lot to give it the sense of grandeur it was clearly aiming for, and an expanded story could really help sell the mythic elements that've mostly just been flavour text so far

Plus, ILCA working on them instead of Gamefreak seems to be their answer to the workload issues that they have had in recent gens.

Graphics remind me of the Linkโs Awakening remake (which I have not played, though I heard that it was well-received?).
Regardless, the graphics arenโt what I expected, but they donโt really bother me. Iโm more concerned as to whether this is literally Diamond and Pearl with a new coat of paint.
I mean, Iโd probably still play it, but itโd be nice to have more to it.

Never liked 3D chibi, and this is not changing my mind. I can look past that, but I really hope they focus on making a better remake over a faithful recreation.
I don't know why people are assuming this will just be carbon-copy port of the original DS games without anything new added, considering we've only seen a few minutes of footage.

50/50 on getting the remakes, even though Gen IV was my favorite mostly because the graphics don't look great. But hope to be pleasantly surprised if the pre-release stuff looks good.

I admit that something about Dawn's overworld sprite felt bit off. Probably due to how her arms are displayed due to her skirt and bag.
I also admit that I had to check if they had reused the battle backgrounds from LGPE or SWSH.

Uuugh, I get WHY they changed the artstyle after the backlash Sw Sh got, but I thought Sw Sh looked fine as it was. So I kind of hate that the backlash got so severe that Gamefreak felt they needed to distance themselves from it.
