I still don't want This Image Is Not an Example. I'd rather have images be examples for both people who know the work and people who don't. Otherwise, people who don't know this policy will open up another Image Pickin' thread and waste the mod's time, time that could be better spent.

This Image Is Not an Example is not ideal, but illustrativeness is the priority. We should not reject an image just because is it not an example when current policy allows it.

Funnily, knowing that you can still enter the blue door cleared 14 up for me (the game is telling you to go red instead of forcing you to go through it; the latter I'd ascribe more to But Thou Must!). I guess it depends on how much the narration looks like a regular part of the gameplay (But Thou Must!) or a rumination on it (Video Games and Fate).

Well, I do have an idea for this trope that also comes from The Stanley Parable, but it's a huge spoiler for the confusion ending. The image is the board that shows the order of events at the end of the path that leads to the confusion ending. Should I suggest it anyway?

After a quick look through the examples, many of them are anything where fate or destiny is brought up in any way, which basically makes it Because Destiny Says So, applied to video games. That's pretty much a non-trope. There are a minority of examples that are true to the description, where the linearity of the gameplay is also a plot element. I think it seriously needs a TRS discussion. Whether The Stanley Parable image would help, I'm not sure. I think it shows But Thou Must! more than this trope.

The clock's up and I don't think we've got enough consensus for 14. Locking up.
