Or it's a new Sonic-bot which Nine and/or the Chaos Council built, rather than the true Metal Sonic (who would probably only show up alongside his creator's complete self, if he appears in this show at all). There are Sonic-based robotic doppelgangers besides just Metal, after all.

I had to rewatch to be sure, but it looks like Black Rose and Rusty Rose were teaming up in the pirate world. Maybe Rusty will have a change of heart sometime this season?
Doesn't look like there are any new Shatter Spaces. The only actual new world was the "dead" Green Hill Zone Shadow showed Sonic. Of course this is merely a trailer, so best to see the context it applies too.

I took a look at the Twitter search bag and found a lot of people who dislike it. 5 of them are people I follow, and i quote "how do they mess up his design?"
Again, a bit of a shame, I found it really cute and I'm satisfied they went with a different route rather than adapting him like nothing. Wouldn't make sense, considering it's not Eggman making him, but the Chaos Counsil.
In other words, I'm glad the Chaos Counsil was original unlike Eggman's descendant just making the same robot but black and yellow.

Someone noticed a really strange detail
regarding Shadow.
He's smiling. Guy's probably reveling in Sonic chasing him this time around. You can also see he has one of Sonic's gizmos, so that's when he's all "one down, three to go."

Shadow increasingly seeing sonic as a worthy opponent is the best part of his character arc.
Netflix (via their "Netflix After School" channel) has released Episode 9, "Avoid the Void" early today on YouTube to promote the release of the remaining Season 1 episodes on the thirteenth (9 days from now at time of posting).
