So this won't be a direct adaption, but a darker spin?

I'm actually ok with that. I couldn't really watch the original show with my pride intact, and even less so now that I'm older. Depends on how far they go with it.

I don't know how to feel about the tackling of gender roles mentioned above, or certain characters being whitewashed because I scarcely remember the original cast to begin with, and don't particularly care regardless.

There was a tech chick, a plant chick, a music chick, a valley girl fashion chick I think, and Bloom right?

I i admit the whole Enchantrix Dreamix Believix naming scheme always tickled me. Sailor Moon would be pink in the face over how pepetual this franchise was.

This show really feels like they wanted to write W.I.T.C.H but were stuck with Winx Club.

Like, why don't they have wings, it's literally in the name of the show.

Wait, that's what Winx is supposed to reference?

Also, how is this anything like W.I.T.C.H.? You're the second person I've seen say this.

Oh, Jacob Dudman's going to be in this too? That's cool, I'm slightly more excited for this now.

What's he been in before this?

Ugh, this was always a bad idea from the get go, so I'm not surprised by how they're screwing it up already. Writing out Tecna stings since she's my favorite, but if you have to get rid of one of them she's the right choice. I'm fine with a darker tone if allows for more mature, complex, and interesting stories, but I expect them to use it for annoying drama instead. The world building looks nothing like the show. And what even is there to say about the whitewashing.

Maybe at least it'll be a more interesting mess than what the main show has turned into.

What was their reason for writing out Tecna anyway?

Almost everyone who has talked about this show seems to be quite jaded, its not a good sign. They've turned off a lot of the fans of the original work and a lot of people don't really seem to like the darker tone it has taken. It makes me think that people are getting a bit tired of shows with edgier tones

Yeah, lately people do tend to whine a lot about such things. Not so long ago the thread for the upcoming Powerpuff Girls had to be locked because it devolved into incessant complaining. Hopefully we can avoid that happening here.

At leas this show has the benefit of it being done by the original series creator, who has been trying to get a live action version made for nearly a decade.

TBF...the very first thing they showed us was whitewashed characters and no Tecna.

Not the best first impression.

Sure, and not liking the show's trailer, or even its general premise, is entirely your prerogative.

But the forum doesn't allow complaint threads for a reason. And as someone who is interested in this, I'd really rather not see the thread get locked. So maybe just move on?

I don't think that I ever watched Winx (although I recall watching a little of W.I.T.C.H), but this... actually looks kinda interesting. It looks like some nice magical not-too-heavy fun.

I intend to give this a shot at some stage once it's out!

That said, I do want to see wings, ideally.

Trix were the mysterious robed people in the first couple of their scenes in the original, if I remember correctly.

No sparkling costumes? At least when Titans did its darker and edgier live action series the characters actually get to wear their superhero costumes/attire. Well at least the ones who are not Starfire, Raven, Doctor Light and Jericho.

Point is this Netflix series could be its own thing just using the Winx name for branding purposes.

I think I may have figured out why Techna was left out. Fairies are basically nature spirits right? Maybe they thought a technological fairy didn't make any sense.

The cartoon had lots of shiny high tech. Maybe they are leaning on the fantasy side this time.

I read a preview of The Fairies Path. The novel adaptation of the show, which contains several spoilers for the show. Terra is not Flora she is her cousin and Bloom is a Changeling a fairy who got switched at birth with a human.

Anyone else expecting this to be cancelled after the first season?
