They where renewed like a week after the first season, so I was wondering if it was canceled quietly during the pandemic or something.

Season 2 is out!
Watching the first episode now.
The second season trailer. I linked it in the Netflix animation thread since I didn't find this one.
Wake me up at your own risk.Finished watching Blood of Zeus Season 2. And while Season 1's finale can work as a series finale in the event the show didn't get renewed, this hopefully gets a Season 3 bec this time it's a damn cliffhanger.

Season 1 was so mid it was baffling this show got renewed
Season 2 is really good. Like, I'm questioning if im watching the same show?
I'm going to agree that this was a marked improvement over the first season. By quite a lot.
I do appreciate that while Hades was an antagonist, he was still sympathetic.
I feared they might have gone full on Everybody Hates Hades.
I had a hard time buying that part, honestly. Dude crossed the line into villainous behaviour quite some time ago, and I found his "sympathetic" reasons rather weak. He needed to be saved in that regard by Demeter showing up and being even more of an asshole.
It's at least slightly more nuanced than the usual "I want to take over because I want power" motivation.
Pretty much all the gods in this series are some level of supervillain behavior because they think of their own desires first and the effects on others much, much later if at all. While also having moments of sensibility when their own interests aren't affecting them. As witness Hera suddenly being the voice of reason despite all the horrific stuff she did last season.
Was Heron going to fix Hades' grievances after first re-establishing the status quo? We'll never know because Hades didn't use his words to express that this was not a viable solution or even wait for Heron to end the sentence.
And we see the problem with the binge approach as this thread just stalled for a week or two with no new episodes.
Think it's less the binge approach, and more the fact that they waited like 5 years to make their much improved season to their earlier entirely mid and forgettable first season.
"Strike while the Iron's hot" the saying goes, not "while the iron's kinda lukewarm and it's been half a decade"
It's not gonna get you a large fanbase to keep the show talked about.

I remember watching this when it was released and thinking that the excellent animation and likable characters were enough to make up for the incredibly cliched plot and lazy writing so I wouldn't mind a second season but I still find it weird that there's going to be one.
