It doesn't help that their quick to cancel their stuff which means their library is going to be full off discontinued shows in a few years. I don't think they realise how damaging this is.

[up]x5 Not every heavily advertised show is a huge success, and sometimes other shows get popular through word of mouth. I can’t remember Netflix heavily advertising Baki or Kengan Ashura at first but a lot of the empirical data shows they were relatively big hits for the service. Seis Manos never had that luxury either way, and that’s probably why it’s been cancelled.

Blood of Zeus seems set for the same fate. Meanwhile, if Powerhouse animated Adi Shankar’s Devil May Cry, you probably would get a lot of people hyped for it just by virtue of “Oh cool, Dante! On Netflix!”

Maybe start being a fucking pessmist after the show is out.

Then you can constantly complain about it being dead.

I think we'll have to see about this show. HADES just recently got popular so their is a market for this kind of thing I think and the popularity of the Castlevania series may help this show.

Apparently the reason they kill so many shows after one season is because each subsequent season costs more to put up or something? So it's a cost-saving measure. Doesn't mean it's a good thing but it's a reason. Also doesn't help for the content bloat, too, especially when they put up a lot of awful stuff to go along with all of the good.

The thing is their not really thinking ahead. Eventually their library will be filled with canceled shows no one cares about

Wait. Has anyone in production for the show or Netflix actually officially announce that the show’s been canceled?

[up] I’m not talking about this show. I was referring to Seis Manos.

There's this interview from May where the creators revealed the three-season plan and that they wrote the second season, but that it hasn't been picked up and that it wasn't popular at all. The fact that there was no announcement at the NYCC panel and everyone talked about the show in past tense seemed telling to me.

...Wow that scene of Hera manipulating the demon leader guy is really good. Mostly because while she obviously leaves out some details, she doesn't lie about anything and technically everything she says is truthful ._. Like yeah, his life would have been much better if Zeus hadn't gotten involved

Watching it now. I'm in the mood for some Greek myth after playing Hades.

Okay, that The Stinger scene at end of final episode [lol] I can't tell if that is sequel hook or just Hades trolling Seraphim

Anyhoo, I can really say that you can definitely tell this is by castelvania series' animators tongue So many people being bisected by weapons that don't cut people

I'm not a big fan of calling shows like this "anime", no matter what Netflix says. At least Castlevania was based on a Japanese video game. The real question is, are we going to have to call them anime for people to be willing to watch them?

I'm okay with it if the trade-off is calling Japanese animation "cartoons" to tick off the worst kind of fans. evil grin

So why are demons and seraphim a thing in this show, didn't those come from Christianity?

The Greeks had Demons or Daemons they just functioned differently then Christian Demons.

Seraphim I am not sure.

Watched the series earlier, can't tell if they made Hades evil or not.

Seraphim is just name of character rather than an angel. Though allusions are obvious tongue

Anyway, while I did overall have more positive feeling than negative, on critical side of thinking: So why the gods didn't just burn the giant corpses if they could have done that all along? [lol]

The end does leave a few plot threads left unanswered for me

  • Was Hades in on all of this? It's mentioned briefly that Hera took refuge with him but we don't actually see him then so we aren't sure which side he was on if any. The ending also makes me wonder if he is punishing Seraphim by making him do something that pisses him off or if he has more of a agenda at hand.

  • Where did Hera go?

  • What happened to the two giants Zeus persuaded to turn against the others? I am surprised we never saw them again.

  • Did Zeus go to the Underworld after he died? How is he gonna explain that to Hades? Might explain why Hades tells Seraphim he will go easy on him if he kneels. Zeus may of vouched for him to a degree.

  • So did Heron inherit all of Zeus's powers?

[up] I think we see the many armed giant in tartaros. If I remember correctly in the original myth the many armed being (who's name I can't remember) eventually betrayed the gods and was sent to tartaros.
