The title is a Stock Phrase, one that is used frequently regardless of the trope itself (namely slapping someone to calm them down). I have seen it used frequently to refer to a situation where a character says the trope title but does not strike the person they are speaking to. It appears the only reason it has remained with its current title is due to having it for so long that many tropers know it's real meaning, but newcomers and casual readers may not.

I propose dividing the trope in two; Get A Hold Of Yourself Man will be relegated to a stock phrase while the trope itself will be renamed. I also propose the name "Sobering Slap" as a clearer alternative, unless something better can be found.

Sorry, ~Shinnok Raiden 99, but we need some actual evidence that the trope is misused in the form of a Wick Check before we can allow a thread.
