When Walking Dead came out, I didn't think it would be a success because the zombie fad was already starting to fade. It WAS a success, but it burned up all the fumes left in the tank to get there and now zombies are...well, dead.
Will Invincible do the same for superheroes I wonder?

Invincible is pretty violent though. I'm wondering if they'll tone it down a bit, or take advantage of animation to actually rev it up.

x2 That's a massive stretch when some people have actively tried to guess which upcoming MCU film will "finally cause superhero fatigue", only to be massively off base.
Even smaller scale superhero shows, like The Boys and Watchmen, have found successes without "killing the market". I don't see this show doing that just because it has Kirkman as a producer.

You know, dark secrets about Omni-Man notwithstanding, this scene by itself, feels pretty elevating.
To anyone who's read Invincible, how much of this scene was lifted from the book?

From memory only (so going back a while now) it seems pretty accurate to the spirit of the comparable scene, couldn't give you a word for word comparison though.

I’m curious why they would even bother adapting Damian Darkblood. His plot line was completely abandoned less than one third of the way into the series and after that the character disappears forever. That makes me think he’s going to be much more important here. I hope his investigation actually goes somewhere and he at least gets a gory on-screen death curtesy of Omni-Man.

Glad they announced this, because I'd been meaning to read Invincible for ages, and I ended up finally doing it a month or so ago because this thread got me motivated.
I hope its successful, because it would be fantastic if they could keep going and adapt the whole series.
I'm not entirely sure how it works with voice actors, but would it being animated potentially avoid the normal issues they have with longer running shows requiring larger and larger salaries for actors?

How gory is the source material? The stuff in the trailer looks realistic but immodest. Maybe I'm too used to live action movies and kids' shows.

Along with today's addition of Quinto and Payton, Kirkman also revealed which characters some of the previously announced voice actors would portray on the series. Here's a list of those voice players and their Invincible characters:
