Pokemon Unite (MOBA, Tencent)

I'm hyped about this, though I'm not 100% sure why. I don't play mobas, after all, but this looks at least interesting enough to waste time with.

Hope we get more playable mons latter there are no Dark types.

Developer is the same guy behind Pokken and Soul Calibur series, so it looks like Pokken is dead for now.

Dumbasses online are already claiming Game Freak is behind this cuz they don't read the developer logos.

Genuinely, why was this in its own presentation?

Like it's cool and all, but this could've easily just been with the other mobile games from last week.

Tencent is basically as big as Google in China, its a brand new genre, and will likely be esports pushed by the pokemon company. Also iirc, it was only recently china had access to Pokemon entirely, starting with 7th gen.

EDIT: Remember Pokemon Quest? That was the start of the bridge to make pokemon a big thing in China. So the fact that Japan is teaming up with with this huge china company is a dream come true to many eastern places.

I think not having type advantages killed this for me. It's just a Pokemon colored typical MOBA otherwise.

Apparently, opinion has gotten even worse, as they deleted the trailer with the massive amount of dislikes, then reuploaded it in an appeal to make it seem like less people hated it.

Think it's just being Tencent or there are other reasons to dislike this game so much?

I think it's a combination of Tencent, how the game was presented, and possibly the public perception of MOBAs.

Tencent is also notoriously shady, thought that has more to do with We Chat and not so much their gaming division.
