Just wondering, but what's the similarities between Kaschey and Ego, Marquis? Ik about Kaschey, but I'm not that familiar with some MCU stuffs, like Guardians of the Galaxy (I only heard about Ego being the main villain of the second GOTG and that's it), so I'm just curious on why Kaschey is compared to Ego

[up] Spoilers for Guardians Vol. 2: Ego is the father of Starlord aka Peter Quill. But he has had many offspring before. All for the purpose of acquiring one that would inherit his powers. The offspring with powers would then help him with his goal of assimilating all life or serve as his battery for the same purpose. Starlord ended up being the offspring with powers so Ego brought him to his planet (his real body) where he basically started grooming him for his plan until of course the heroes thwart him. I see this being similar with Kashchey or rather the Black Snake, since he too wanted an heir that he would groom to be his next body. He didn't go around banging anything that moves but he did use his powers to manipulate Talulah and kidnap her. Similarly, Ego had actually hired the Ravagers like Yondu to kidnap his many offsprings. Also, there is a level of pettiness that both Kashchey and Ego share. To emotionally manipulate Talulah, Kashchey was more than willing to bring up Ch'en and Talulah's dead father, Edward, whom he indirectly killed. Ego gave Starlord's mother a brain tumor and even smashed his walkman.

I made a bit more progress on the main story. Up until now, I've only really played while waiting for the train home from work (which is about 40 minutes from the end of my shift until the train arrives), but my mother and I have been feeling ill lately, and I'll be out sick for the rest of the week, possibly longer if the covid tests we're getting on Thursday come back positive.

So, with this newfound free time, I decided to finish up the prologue chapter today and unlock the store and base features. And along with that, I unlocked side missions and supply battles. I did each of the opening supply battles that were available today. I also got my base up and running, building a Control Center, Power Plant, Factory, and Trading Post during the base tutorial. And I added a Dormitory and a Workshop, too. I took a look at the furniture available for the dormitory, and I accidentally bought a floor from the Golden Game Room set. Oh, well, I guess it's better than the default floor. I also deliberately bought a few items from the Reimselar Ballroom set and a Black Bed so it looks more presentable.

Speaking of base, you would eventually want to aim for a 252 or 243 setup.

The first number stands for the amount of trading posts, the second the amount of factories, and the third power plants. The former allows you to get the most efficient production and you will only have to manage base two times a day, but you will only have four Lv 1 dorms (though it's enough) and maxing office isn't recommended. As for the latter setup, it will allow you to max everything in base, but you will get less production and have to do more micromanagement due to faster morale recovery.

You should also develop certain base operators to at least E1 1 for their base skills by the time you get to 4-7, which will give the last keel IIRC. Those operators are Spot, Steward, Gravel, Frostleaf, Shirayuki, Perfumer, Vermeil, Ambriel, and Matoimaru. Castle-3 should also be E0 maxed once you get him.

Im wondering, on average, when it comes to 6 star operators, are their 2nd skill used more often then their third?

I'd assume for most cases (espeiclly those of Game-Breaker status) that their 3rd skills sees more common use, however others have their send skill be their bread and butter (Ifrit) have synergy with other operators (Mudrock and Blemishine's mutually benefit from each other's) or are at least decent as filler for when you don't have or need their S3 (Suzuran, whose S2 is a better version of Anges')

Personally speaking of the ops I have at E2 that can get 3 skills, I gravitate towards the skill thee, but those are few and include SA and Suzuran's whose S3 are their bread, butter and knife.

[up][up]Usually a 6-star's 3rd skill is their most used. The cases where the 2nd skill is used tends to stand out (eg. Siege, Ifrit, Ceobe, Blaze). There are also some instances where multiple skills are good and which one you use depends on the situation (eg. Eyja, W, Saria, Weedy etc.)

Eh, Ifrit S3 is useful for boss killing or hard contents mainly due to the increased RES debuff. Likewise, Mudrock S3 is actually better than S2 most of the time. You just need to time it properly

S2 tends to be more reliable while S3 tends to be a bigger burst of power. So which one's better tends to come down to how big that burst of power is. A lot of S3s are too finicky or have cooldowns that are too long to actually be useful, but the ones that are good are really good.

Youtuber MLGQaiser, recenly known for Lore vids, had decided to speculate on how a possible Arknights anime might play out.

I can see it as possible, but think, they would be more likely to stretch out the chapters to cover multiple episodes and take 2 cours to finish.

Well, I think your biggest problem right from the start is that it can take like half an hour to get through a single cutscene, and that's at reading speed and not talking speed (so a hypothetical anime would take like a hour just to read the dialog out loud, from a single cutscene in a single chapter). Obviously you'd want to cut down as much dialog as you can, but that doesn't change the fact that it's dense.

Yeah for that reason alone I expect it to go a similar route to Magireco's anime adatation(which for the only covered the first 6 chapters of the game's first arc which had 10 chapters)

The only other Gacha adaptation I've watched is Show By Rock (first 2 cours, though I am planning on watching the rest later) and I don't even know if it followed the source materiel (I do know that the isekai premise was original to the adaptation, and that the recent 2 cours might be an AU). But that is a tangent.

Anyway I got enough chips to E2 all my Defenders, so its a matter of getting through the queue, to that end I'm gonna need tapes...and then eventually money.

Honestly I think an anime would be better off adapting a sidestory like Maria Nearl instead of the main Reunion story, both for pacing reasons and also because they tend to be a lot more self-contained. Even just in the example given by that youtuber, he had to throw in scenes from other events just to have the main plot make sense.

Fair point. I wonder if that is the reason why they didn't go for an anime adaptation.

Other random thought:

W isn't actually very important to the Reunion arc, even her backstory which seems super important is more there to set up for the next arc. I would cut down her role if at all possible (instead of emphasizing her role, as this person did). Like, she can still betray Reunion at the end and whatnot, but we don't actually need to know why yet, we can save that for next season. Actually, starting Season 2 with Darknights Memoir makes a lot of a sense to me, assuming the story goes in roughly the direction I assume it will where Therese and Theresa become more relevant.

I think Qaiser's take emphasized W because he thought she is important to the story (in which case he is the best kind of correct, but she isn't important to the Reunion arc per se) as the very first boss the game throws at you. The thing is that's a role that could be replaced by a OC Starter Villain, Patriot or even Tallulah for a Hopeless Boss Fight feel.

Yeah, I agree. I do think starting off a prospective Season 2 (assuming the end of the Reunion story is the end of S1) with Darknights Memoir might end up leaning a biiit too far in the other direction, in terms of unentangling it, though.

It's been fun.

The theoretical Arknights anime kind of feels like the pacing of Granblue in the sense that the first season you're cramming the world building and the second you're getting to the good part of the arc only to stop right at the beginning when the story (of the first arc) gets good.

I know he said he didn't want to rush it, but he's proposed plan for the Arknights anime already feels very rushed. Admittedly cutting down on all the long Shakespearian dialogues would definitely help. For example, I do agree that an anime adaptation should show Guard seeing Patriot and Hellagur but like maybe 5 mins tops. We do not need the entire dialogue just the main point: "Join Reunion?" "No." and definitely mentioning their adopted children.

While I agree that an Arknights anime would be more than 12 episodes (I personally think 24 episodes for the entire Reunion arc), 12 episodes for chapters 0 to 7 is unreasonable. I'd like to think 1-12 eps would be enough to cover ch. 0-5 specifically ending a cour on the end of Reunion's advance in Lungmen and the beginning of the counterattack (not quite the fan of cliffhanger endings). I do think we could maybe spare one or a few eps in a second cour for a Darknights flashback arc. But since we should be getting a Talulah flashback arc as well, might be too much.

Also, he didn't exactly mention it explicitly but he does say there should be some time dedicated to the Doctor's "first" experience in Rhodes Island. It is my very strong opinion that any Arknights anime has to give a significant focus on the Doctor beyond being just a self-insert. Since the Doctor kickstarts the plot, it would really weaken the anime if the Doctor is just a Po V character and barely does anything. I'd like to mention FGO Babylonia, all three adaptations of idolm@ster with emphasis on Cinderella Girls, Katsugeki Touken Ranbu, and maybe Kemono Friends as gacha game adaptations that gave agency and a significant role to the supposed player character.

I mean, if you really wanted to you could probably write the Doctor out of the plot entirely and refocus the first Chernobog mission into evacuating civilians or something. They're definitely building up to something with them but that payoff won't happen for quite a while. I wouldn't necessarily recommend that since there are a lot of other little things that might need to change, but I would call it on the table.

As for the Hellagur/Patriot conversation, you probably don't need the whole thing but I feel like Patriot's entire political philosophy is more important to keep than a brief mention of his daughter.

Edit: Like, not to go too deep into this, but I feel like if you stripped away all the dialog in this game leaving only the parts that directly move the plot forward, you also end up removing any reason that this story is worth telling.

I feel like, if we're going to have an Arknights anime, it should start with Talulah's flashback, with the Episode 3 twist being that she's going to be the villain for the next story section. The flashback is going to be compressed because of time issue so Talulah went nuclear immediately because of Alina's death instead of separating her downfall into two events that basically the same anyway. Magia Record anime is already being put as an example for this, and this is especially relevant. Long story short, one of the story's macguffin is located inside a shrine, found by solving a riddle. The heroes find a conspicuous shrine related with the riddle, but fail to locate the macguffin because the real macguffin's location is in a random ass shrine that has never been hinted before. The anime just cut the second mental-gymnast and put the macguffin in the first shrine.

Afterward, an episode (or at least the second half of Episode 3) is dedicated to show how Reunion is corrupted, especially with Mephisto. Chernobog invasion is told from the Reunion's perspective, including the scenes in Operation Intelligence. Then Rhodes' story begins, but it will skip the entire 'Doctor's waking up' scene, so it appears that the Doctor is always there. If they show the 'waking up' scene, then it's really obvious that the Doctor is (while slightly better than most examples) a self-insert character, and a lot of the narrative weight is suddenly gone with that knowledge.

Skullshatterer and Crownslayer's scenes are cut because the main point of their scenes are already represented in Talulah's flashback. So Lungmen's invasion immediately goes to Mephisto's war crimes to give contrast of his personality shift. The rest of the anime will go pretty straightforward with the game's plot, and the first season ends with Frostnova's death. Second season starts with Darknights' Memoir and goes on to the straightforward adaptation sans Talulah's flashback (because it's already shown), so the pacing won't be hampered by multiple flashbacks.
