Finally finished M8-6 with the special condition. That took way too long.

I just finished 0-4 today, in which I was taught the value of snipers against flying enemies.

In the sniper tutorial missions, I was confused as to why Dobermann was calling me Jessica. I thought my account got hacked or something. But then I remembered there's an operator named Jessica I got in an earlier gacha roll. And then in the next tutorial I got a duplicate of her as one of my rewards.

So far things have been easy, but after that mission, I was told about the training videos that are apparently this game's equivalent of a Rare Candy. I now have a lot of them, which makes me wonder if they're supposed to be the main way of giving characters levels instead of killing enemies like in most RPG's.

Also, I have 200 "Headhunting Parametric Models" in my inventory. The description says they are "automatically obtained when headhunting data expires". Does this mean I missed a deadline for something?

I've started to settle into a routine of spending the last break of my workday claiming items and making gacha rolls, then doing a mission at the train station while I wait for the train home. I see this game has an Anti Poop-Socking mechanic called "sanity", but with the pace I've been progressing at, I don't think I'll have to worry about running out of it.

And finally, I see 13 "Headhunting Data Contracts" in my inventory, with a note that they "expired" on "5/17 03:59". I'm going to assume that's a typo and it meant to say that it "expires" then.

The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever.

The Headhunting Parametric Models are what the Headhunting Data Contract (the blue star thingys) gets converted to after the limited banner. Basically if you do 300 rolls during the banner, those you could use to grab whatever in that limited banner, in this case, Rosmontis, Mudrock and Whisperain (she cost 75).

To put it in another term if you play Granblue Fantasy, they're sparks that turn into Cerulean stones if you don't use them up.

You, the Doctor, are supposedly a tactical genius, so why would you need a tutorial? Every tutorial in the game is framed as teaching Jessica, the newbie operator.

[up][up][up] EXP items are the ONLY way to level up Operators in this game.

Also, here's a quick and easy thing to keep in mind as you progress, something the game doesn't directly tell you:

All Operators, once reaching the max level cap (easier than you think it is), can be 'Promoted' to E1, setting their level back to 1 (but their stats remain as if they're E0 Max Level, so there's no reason not to do it if you have the materials and like the unit), get a higher level cap and unlock new skills, there's also E2 but that's more endgame level stuff there.

Promoting Operators will take up a lot of your grinding time, as they require materials that have to be grinded on certain stages.

Just a note about sanity in this game - it's not one of those games where you're swimming in items to restore it. The game makes sure of that since each sanity ration has an expiration date. After you stop gaining a level every few maps you'll probably start feeling it.

Also don't use Originite Prime (the orange globes) for restoring sanity unless you're a whale. They're better saved for buying operator outfits, or gacha pulls if you decide to do so. If you do, be sure to buy the packs that cost a fixed amount, you get the same amount via conversion + some extra materials.

Got Nightmare in today's free roll, think I've only got Indra left unrecruited in terms of the initial 5-star operator pool.

I had my first mission failure today on the vanguard tutorial. Note to self: if your job requires you to wear gloves, remember to take them off at break time before you play mobile games.

On the other hand, I feel like the hounds are enemies I might have trouble with in the future since I've mostly played games on consoles and PC an I'm still not quite used to games played completely with touch controls. But even then, that should just be a matter of getting used to the controls.

The main issue with the dogs is that they're Fragile Speedsters easy to kill, but quick enough that you have to deploy a Vanguard in most cases (or Kroos to kill them, but blocking them might be more reliable depending on how many mutts are there) to block them. However this assumes they are the first enemy and immediate sprint instead of waiting a few seconds as in the case of the tutorial, if they do stop you might have enough time to bring a Guard down to kill them faster or maybe a Defender to block 3 at the time.

I think there are faster or bulkier variants of them latter on, but then again there are better versions of most every trash mob and even some bosses out there.

Yup, the hounds are almost always deployed first when a map wants you to act fast or to provide early pressure. It's one of the ways the game has of testing if you've been investing in your Vanguards.

It's been fun.

[up]x3 Arknights is a pretty hard game to play on a phone. I prefer to use an ipad and see many others play on a PC using an emulator.

Pull 69 (nice) on FMN. More than 10 since Mudrock and the pull is...Matterhorn, alright-ish.

I'm gonna e2 him eventually but there is a queue of other units including other defenders, Eyja and Nightingale. Speaking of which I just E2'd Nightingale and Coura for the "low" price of around 650000 LMD.

alright I decided to do a 10 pull and bring up the total rolls to 79. Got Greyy, Whisperain, Catapult, Cuora, Kokodayo-chan, Beehunter, Hibiscus, Whisperain again (might be my first pot 6 5*), Spot and Click. Rather decent TBH. I'nna spend a ticket and round it up to 80 but I'm not getting my hopes up for a 6* yet

Melantha. I figured as much, Also turns out I'm still short a token for pot 6 Whsiperain.

Pull 81 got me one of Myrtle's tokens. You ever get the feeling that it might be easier to roll for potency on gacha instead of recruitment?

Today, I logged in for the 7th consecutive day and got Cliffheart.

I also did the Caster tutorial and the story mission after that. I finally know the name of that mysterious enemy leader that's been hassling us for the past few missions, and now another mystery person has shown up.

Also, I got my first level-up, and I've now unlocked the friends panel. I'll be sending friend requests to everyone who posted a code since I joined this thread after I make this post. My ID is Sean#7320.

Meanwhile I decided to spend 5 singles to ensure the pull number rounds up to the highest 10th when it ends in 4 days...and then do another 10 pull afterwards. lets see

  • 82-86: Frostleaf, Frostleaf again, Frostleaf Ambriel, Earthspirit, & Kroos.
  • 87-96: Arene, Gravel, Scavenger, Lava, Catapult, Actually 3rd Frostleaf, Pot 6 Whisperain, Jaye, Maitoimaru and Beehunter.

Well I at least have some distinctions. Who knows, maybe I cna get Rose on the 100th pull.

Yeesh, playing through the story... a lot of Arknights characters must really REALLY be in love with the sound of their own voices. I love the world building but the apparent super power of some characters to go into ridiculously complex philosophical metaphor-filled 20 minute monologues on the spot without reading from a prepared script stretches the suspension of belief sometimes. At this point I'm having to chalk it up to Terran brains in that universe being really different from our world's just to explain how the hell people are able to devise all that stuff to ramble about in normal conversation. Then again, maybe it's abnormal in-universe as well considering that half the time the unfortunate recipient on the other side of the conversation responds "I have no idea what you're saying."

Usually, the ones who really like to monologue are really old people. Maybe it's not really that noticeable in most of the game because almost all of the characters are teenagers or young adults, but when old people talk, it's always like that. People complains about Hellagur and Patriot's conversation in Operation Intelligence too. In a way, it makes sense. I mean, have you ever heard your grandparents telling you stories?

I personally already immune with long-winded monologue because of my exposure to Nasuverse. In fact, I think Nasuverse has it worse because everyone, no matter the age, really likes to monologue, even if it's just in their heads.

Great, now I'm imagining Kaschey or Kal'tsit talking like Grandpa Simpson.

Kaschey: Don't you see it? Humanity will walk into the bar of catastrophes with an onion on their belt, which was the style at the time...

Tallulah: Ugh, SHUT UP already.

That's the real reason why she ends up stabbing him.

would really undercut Katshcey's meance to see him yelling at clouds

I kinda think its unlikely for either to be that senile, at least for now.
