Voting Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Doesn't look like a weapon.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThat can work with a good caption. Something similar to what we have now is fine.
I mostly want to emphasize how the trope is distinct from I Call It "Vera". Named Weapons is for weapons that have a recognized name in-universe, not just a nickname given by their wielder. Having never played Bayonetta, I have no clue which the image falls under.
Pull the current, nothing in the image shows they're named weapons.
I like 5.1.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! Is there another shot of 5.1? I like the concept, but the name is really small.
- Perhaps the Dagger from Romeo + Juliet◊?
- Bilbo naming Sting (Second panel)
- Elrond revealing the names of Orcist and Glamdring (First and second panels)◊

Maybe panels 2 and 3 in 9.3. That gets across the weapon's name and legacy fairly well. It's text-reliant, but given the nature of the trope I think that's fine. It's not too wordy.
9.2 is more I Call It "Vera". Sure, it's this trope in-universe, but the image would show the other. 9.3 is better, but it has too much text for my taste.
The problem with using panel 2 without panel 1 is that the sentence "Keep them well" sounds odd when he is talking about one sword.
Also, isn't there a better shot of 9.1? Because the name is rather difficult to read on this one.

The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.Good point: Sting is I Call It "Vera". Orcrist and Glamdring are legendary weapons; Sting is just a random dagger named by Bilbo (yes, it glows and is extremely sharp; still common for Gondolin daggers), and nobody except him and Frodo knows about it.
I like 9.3. Just include the first panel, or crop the speech bubble that says "keep them well".
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I actually prefer the second panel by itself — his dialogue is a lot more comprehensible. I find that the first has too many made-up fantasy words for me, but it works well enough. Both of them together might be too much text.
(Sorry, these need to be made transparent.)

Those are both pretty good.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
Clock is set.
Shall we crowner this, then? I see several people agreeing on the Elrond picture.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Note that the crops I put up are two separate pictures. I personally don't like the idea of combining them.
Crowner's hooked. I didn't include the Sting option since it's I Call It "Vera" and not this trope.

Votes bump; three in the green, two in consensus range.
Votes bump; three in the green.
One more bump; this one's at a week but I'll give it another day or two to see if one of the two in the green pulls ahead more.
Oh — Named Weapons is actually in TRS (missing those pagetop discussion banners...). Do the examples in 13 fit Legendary Weapon more?

They're both on the page...I'd be fine with putting one or both in 13 on Legendary Weapon and using 16 here.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
Or rather, just four guns and a caption.
Maybe we can find something where the name is actually written on the weapon, or at least something where the weapons are more distinct.
