And speaking of Romin, I wonder how long until she gets brainwashed like all the previous Yu-Gi-Oh main girls.

Yeah episode 29 was crazy.

  • I mean four kids get stranded surrounded by a ditch with no food or supplies while a pair of twins gets forcibly transferred for a year of eternal servitude.
  • I can see people finding Kaizo annoying but after what Sebastian did to him, I hesitate to say I wouldn't feel the same.
  • Finally, a Plant duelist that's not mentally broken (cough Aki), insane (Yuri), or both until their Ignis partner died (Spectre)! I like Ranze's deck, it's cool.
  • Her crush on Yuga though and Rinnosuke just being a sweet brother.
  • Galient's deck is supposed to be a Gundam nod, right?
  • Speaking of Galient, it's hard to tell if he's Affably Evil or Faux Affably Evil for now. He was definitely raised by conservative parents in the Master Duel only religion.
  • That hold handing at the end, awnh. Gakuto, figure out the truth and get your revenge!

Next episode we might get Luke's sister based on reddit but I'm not sure.

[up] Her berserk state is already a parody of the Yu Gi Oh girls getting brainwashed trope. Akiza's technically the only one to avoid that, right?

Also I think someone should finish the recap pages cuz stuff did happen in those episodes.

Next episode if it turns out that Luke nicknamed himself that so that the show could make a silly Star Wars joke I swear...

Not sure about that, translated his nickname is Rook right? Maybe it's cuz he wants to go from the Rook to the King?

I honestly never noticed that pattern.

Speaking of broken patterns, I think Luke is the first Dragon duelist who doesn't start out as the main hero's rival.

Akiza's technically the only one to avoid that, right?

I guess you could say being manipulated by Sayer qualifies.

They might now.

Anyway, so Luke has a smarter, more domineering older sister then? Well, that'll be interesting.

We usually give a main character a young sibling, though I suppose Yuma did have his older sister so it's not totally out of the ordinary.

Really love how Haruka was a stealth mentor to Yuga and Luke. She makes sure Yuga keeps his resolve to be a champion of the Rush Duels change he inspired while she wants Luke to actually use his drive to find his own resolve. It says a lot about Yuga and Luke's relationship since we've seen signs of him having depression and questioning his purpose.

Also, it's just like Kachidoki in Arc-V, Haruka's monsters literally struck Yuga in the gut. And people say this show doesn't feel like Yu-Gi-Oh.

Plus Haruka/Tiger vs Luke/Dragon. That was pretty funny.

Well that's two hours of my life I'll never get back. You know how people actively try to hate something even when they're giving it a chance. This felt like that. Besides, "I feel like the show is attacking me," arguments always fall flat when you have a show this self-aware and meta.

Episode 31:

  • So The Trumpet Duel was actually a hoax for a Underground Rush Duel tournament but it's not exactly a proper Rush Duel Tournament like we want. Sorta makes sense.
  • How fitting this Kyoya Tategami (again, where are the Beyblade fans on tv tropes) dude voiced by the damn singer of the show about having fun and changing up the status quo is leading a rebellion of Rush Duels players in such a rigid environment. Kinda feel like two people enjoying the same sport but the side with bigger numbers is demonizing the other just because the way they play is slightly different, comes off as so elitist....wait that's the point right?
  • You know, if Haga actually developed into a nice person, it'd be nice to see him and Jango interact for obvious reasons. Actually, Crisis Crossover and they have to duel each other. Two bug themed duelists with a very different code of morality and decency, bring it.
  • Haven't been in a while but I know we had a discussion about whether or not the decks felt gimmicky versus what they say about a character, and I think given what Jango has gone though, he's got that nice middle ground of what we're used too versus Sevens being direct about it.
  • Also, sheesh Romin, hear the guy's backstory out, that was some decent exposition.

Won't reveal the ending but when Asana said she'd crush Rush Duels, I wonder if she lowkey has a crush on Yuga, aka she's crushing on the Rush Duel creator.

I do love how when he went berserk, his ranting was basically the opening theme.

And now I find out he's actually the singer for said opening theme, which makes it funnier.[lol]

The same outcome as the last time this happened: Yuga challenges Asana and gets run over by a Maximum monster. It's sort of a surface level thing, but I like how the Machine Calvary Club's cards reflect their excavation theme in simple but effective ways: Galient "unearths" monsters by flipping them face-up while Asana "digs up" a Field spell for "raw materials" to power her machines. Some hints at backstory for the setting too, especially concerning the true nature of Goha...

So uh, did Mimi just stuff a dead body in a closet or something lol?

[up]

That's a damn good question! Lets hope not, since it's pretty clear the body of the Goha president is likely Asana's gramps.

That's loss number 3 for Yuga too. He may be the hero, but he's suffered the most losses of any of the group it seems.

I just realized, Asana's a bloody fucking Hypocrite. She calls Rush Duels a blasphemous form of dueling, yet had a Maximum Monster, which can only be used in Rush Duels.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash.

35: So now we've got what, four girls in a Yu Gi Oh season with at least one win in a duel? That's gotta be a record.

36: I have no idea who's going to duel, but no one has been talking about Schwer kicking Galient down a platform and I'm wondering what the hell is about to go down there.

37: Apparently Rook is going to duel Schwer for revenge for tricking him in the first place, but Schwer is making him duel the pigeon instead. That should be interesting. Gotta thank that spanish youtuber that translates in English too for that news

So I read this show apparently pulled the twist of The HELMET Was The Mastermind? That's the most delightfully ridiculous twist villain I've ever heard of!

The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."
