It does help emphasize how completely paranoid he must be.

Thought about that too. Would not be surprised if he had psychic powers of some sort. Of course I'm also expecting the author will subvert expectations and make him affable.

I feel like him having psychic powers and him being good deep down are mutually exclusive, because there's no way that he can be aware of how much his neglect is hurting Desmond and still be sympathetic while keeping it up (which he's going to have to for plot purposes).

Well kinda expected Donovan to be like that.

Credit to Donovan, he appears more stable than his appearance would suggest.

For a certain measure of "stable". He certainly seemed like he knew exactly what Loid was trying to do.

Though I wonder if he thinks Loid is just being a sycophant or if he actually thinks he's a spy.

I don't remember... why is he such an important target again?

Going by this chapter, he's the one masterminding the current cold war/planning to make it go hot.

He's the leader of the pro-war political party, and the spies suspect they can find dirt on him that could take his whole faction down.

Basically, so far he's the closest thing this series has to a Big Bad.

Really feel there's more to him than meets the eye.
