Believing something you read in several newspapers is a natural reflex for ordinary people. For an intelligence agent, though? That’s… a severe handicap.

I guess they’re so short-handed they can’t afford to be picky about their recruits.

Makes me think back of the Daybreak chapter and how incompetent he was.

If Putin had half a brain he'd have his people fake tank reports. Overload it with junk data.

But the entire war demonstrates he's losing his marbles, and I highly doubt the defenders are using it as any sort of primary information source anyway.

It gets even worse when you realize how realistic it depicts drowning.

The first thing I've learned when I undertook life guard training was how to distinguish drowning people from those who just play, particulary children: The former go down quietly, with little movement.

Like Loid said, children barely make a sound when they drown.

Drowning in general is not audible because the actual "drowning" part means you're submerged and not coming up on your own. That's why Hollywood Drowning isn't really "drowning", it's "yelling in distress because you can only tread water for a short time".

Can confirm, whenever I gave up halfway through my swimming lessons as a child it was pretty damn silent. Hell, there was a time when a girl thought it would be funny to shove me over the line seperating the shallow from deep side of the pool and even though I flailed and tried to get help no one heard me, I was lucky enough that my feet managed to pull me back into shallow side

I'm starting to think Fiona would actually be a good tutor for her, because oh my fucking God...

And I deal with children on a constant basis, so yea its exactly as frustrating as it looks...

I forget, did someone comment earlier about an Imperial Scholar with lots of bolts? Because Henderson mentioned someone exactly that existed in the school's history.
