The fanbase is a fickle one.

Once Awakening was popular among all players now the hardcore crowd bash it for petty reasons.

Still, CF is better than Conquest.

[up] The people who hate Awakening are mostly people who were into the series before it came out and were mad that it got more popular than Blazing Blade or Path of Radiance, the "good" games of the "Golden Age".

Even Tellius gets a lot more love now because it sticks to ensuring its worldbuilding was consistent and the writers even remembered things that happened. Not to say it doesnt have a lot of flaws ala Japans reasoning for why Ike beat the Black Knight in a previous game is ???? In its reasoning, but it is what it is.

Part of the reason why I prefer Black Knight's localized reason a lot better is that it also mirrors Greil holding back with Ike at the beginning, Ike really did have two teachers.

Besides, I feel modern Fire Emblem is a golden age, like shit despite our arguments over Three Houses's cast, it's a goddamn great game.

I have never seen anyone badmouth Ike's games.

I definitely have. They're just as insufferable as everyone else who finds the need to constantly shit on games they don't like.

That's one of the reasons I don't like the online fanbase (or gamers in general, really); it's like listening to someone whine about an ex so often you start to wonder if the whiner is actually the asshole in the equation.

Personally, I don't really care about what the fanbase declare the "golden age" to be; I just care about enjoying the games themselves. Just enjoy the games you enjoy and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Radiant dawn still tends to get criticized every now and then. Path of radiance somewhat fits more on the "very few people dislike it more than just "m'eh"" side but even it can sometimes be dismissed as "too easy" or "boring".

[up][up] It's too bad Manic mode never made it over to NA. Or maybe better? I guess it depends on how much one wants to spend hours pummeling huge sacks of HP and raw defenses, but typically aren't all that threatening as far as offenses go.

As far as wishing Three Houses was more like Fates, the main thing I'd kind of like to go back to was the Fates My Castle. It was a neat distraction, but still fairly quick to go through between chapters. The Monastery really starts to feel like a huge slog at points—especially after doing White Clouds for the umpteenth time.

So of the three houses, which one is mostly likely to successfully rob a bank? Which is most likely to successfully foil a bank robbery? Who comes out of top when you pit them against each other? And which house is running this bank that is getting robbed and hired the other house as security?

Edelgard is successfully robbing the Crest Stone bank (regardless of what happens in gameplay), which is owned by the Church, who hired whatever house Byleth chose. tongue

Robberies

Blue Lions: Attempt to physically rob a bank, despite Ashe's pleas that its far better to do this shit remotely nowadays. Things go south immediately due to a combination of Dimitri's aggression, Felix not being a team player, and Annette fumbling the gear at the worst possible time. Whoever doesn't get caught needs to launch the world's worst planned prison break.

Black Eagles: Are running the bank, and Edelgard/Hubert trick/intimidate the rest of the House into helping them defraud it from within. Eventually get caught when someone rats them out, and that "someone" turns out to be every Black Eagle, either out of a sense of justice (Caspar/Ferdinand/Petra), desiring leniency (Bernadetta/Dorothea) or bitterness at being forced to work (Lindhart).

Golden Deer: Zany, overly complicated heist scheme that works. They get away clean with massive amounts of cash, and proceed to waste it rapidly on a zany, overly complicated laundering scheme.

Bank Defense

Blue Lions: Great at physically defending the bank, but also deter the bank's bigger but shadier customers. Not that great at countering more esoteric robbery attempts either. Probably better with a small town branch than anything big.

Black Eagles: Unnecessarily ruthless with small time crooks, as a result of Edelgard and Hubert preemptively co-opting the local organized crime elements. The bank is safe, but local crime rates begin to rise across the board.

Golden Deer: Setup an effective and multi-tiered defense grid that resists any attempt of any kind. But they run the budget up due to Claude over complicating things, Lysithea demanding top of the line gear, and Lorenz and Leonie alienating clients. So they go out of business anyway.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.

[up]That was way better than whatever I could write, so lets wrap up my sequel ideas posts, with whatever miscellaneous ideas I haven't posted yet.

When it comes to games taking place within Fodlan my mind immediately goes to the School of Sorcery in Faerghus, where you could finally go full Harry Potter and the Emblem of Fire. It could be interesting to have a Fire Emblem game where everyone is a mage and magic is much more varied and involved than in previous entries. You'd also be able to have Annette, Mercedes, Lorenz and Constance as playable characters.

Another idea I've had is to make a prequel centered on Judith. I don't actually have many ideas on what to do with this concept. This is based exclusively on the fact that she uses the lord class, and that it would make it retroactively funny how unceremoniously she's killed in CF.

When it comes to places outside Fodlan the one that sticks out the most is probably Morfis. I imagine a game set there would play very similarly to the School of Sorcery game I posted above, since Morfis' schtick is being a city with powerful mages. Since Albinea is described as a place with little civilization I imagine a game set there as a Dn D-inspired affair where you have an adventurers guild traveling into the wilderness. Could also give us some more Eskimo- and Siberian-styled cultures and characters. Almyra has already been covered in my VW sequel post, but I think a game that simply takes place during Khalid's rule where he only makes a small cameo, or maybe plays a role like WC Rhea, could be interesting as well.

When it comes to Dagda I've always had a more specific plot in mind. I've always liked the idea of a game focused on Petra taking place during the timeskip, where she's sent to Dagda to ensure that they don't invade during the war. Petra is already a princess so you might as well make her the lord of her own game. The avatar could be the child of Duke Gerth who tags along for the ride. There could be a FE 5 / FE 6 style route split, and whatever path you choose decides whether Petra decides to fight with or against Edelgard after the credits. The final boss could be either Catherine trying to provoke a Dagdan invasion in order to weaken the empire, or Hubert trying to frame the church of doing the abovementioned in order to discredit it to the people of Fodlan. (While we're at it, let's give Petra a wyvern and a sword and bow similar to Failanught and the Sword of Begalta so that she and Claude can be reskins of each other in Smash.) I like to call this idea "Brigid 1181".

One final idea I've contemplated for a sequel is to have a "Fodlan Chronicles" game that is split up into several smaller campaigns (roughly CS length, but can be longer or shorter depending on the individual needs of the story) that you can select from the main menu. The obvious picks would be condensed versions of the four route sequels I've posted previously, but you can also have other stories as well.

One particular variation on this concept that I really like is to have four prequel stories (Byleth serving as a mercenary under Jeralt, Dimitri surviving the tragedy, saving Dedue and fighting with Felix in that one rebellion, Khalid surviving assassiantion attempts by his siblings, and Edelgard wiggling out of Volkhard and Ludwig's claws, recruiting Jeritza and Ladislava, and deciding to become the Flame Emperor) and then the four sequel stories that unlock when you complete the corresponding prequel story. What I really love about this idea is that despite being separated by a full game's worth of plot, the prequel and sequel stories still fit together perfectly. You go from Edelgard reluctantly agreeing to work with the Slitherers to her finally being able to get rid of them, from Dimitri experiencing the Tragedy of Duscur to finally solving what happened and pinning those responsible, and from Khalid living under constant threat from the other royal candidates to him finally taking the throne for himself. The only one that's hard to fit is tying Byleth's life as a mercenary to Byleth's life as an archbishop. Maybe they witness something while working under Jeralt that comes up again during their time as the archbishop?

Guys, an update, Heroes will have Nemesis as a unit.

Now let's see how many people use his lines as propaganda for/against Edelgard and Rhea.

This is going to be fun...

EDIT: Guys, Seteth is ripped.

So like my story team consists of Byleth M Edelgard student, Grima M and Gharnef.

Man, the more I think about it, the more it's fitting.

The other B team is Ashnard, Legendary Edelgard, Fallen Male Corrin, and Brave Veronica.
