Darksiders Is Getting A Diablo-Style Spinoff

This is either going to be really good or really, really stupid.

And the devs have been iffy in a number of ways recently. So not sure about this.

The game is over-the-top enough in its combat to warrant a Diablo clone, so it could be good. But who knows.

Huh Strife finally got his own game by the looks of it.

Well each game has been its own little variation; the first was a Zelda-like, the second a looter ARPG, the third a return to form, a little more linear.

But seeing as Strife is the focus, wonder if this is his standalone game.

It's also being made by a different studio (helmed by a former DS lead tho)

Yeah, this appears to be Strife's game. I wonder if they made it like this so that they would have a more familiar way to make Strife use his guns. You can't really do a Darksiders 2 or 3-style game with just guns after all. Even Devil May Cry had a melee option but Strife doesn't appear to have one.

Well the game focuses on Strife, the other Horsemen I believe will also play parts since this is a prequel.

Thats the direction they going now we have a game for all the 4 hourseman only lasts conclude the series with a game with all the 4 being playable.

I need to find time to play the 3 one...

Yes, that's one of the "iffy" things I was referencing. But isn't this made by different people? So maybe that won't be an issue.

Think that was the publisher rather than the Devs.

And I think the other characters are there for any co-op companions (other players) who join the game.

And yeah, I reckon they've gone this way for guns. TPS are doable, and you can do acrobatic styles with them, but it's probably easier to do an isometric rather than pushing shooting mechanics into a Zelda-like.

Same. You COULD do it DMC style but that’s rolling the dice when it’s not necessary.

Why not make it Uncharted/Tomb Raider style?

You clearly see the other Horsemen being playable in the trailer. It's not just strife's game.

Plus. as is the standard to have multiple characters/classes, you obviously get to pick characters.

Plus the announcement confirmed the game has coop. So again, not just Strife's game.

First sixteen minutes

A shame Platinum wasn’t able to secure the rights to the franchise, because making a spiritual successor to Vanquish would’ve been a great way to make an actiony TPS for Strife to star in.

Darksiders is ten years old today.
