Don't forget the book. The pointless backstory back that will now never be mentioned or used for the character.
Ha.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I mean at least Smoke might have a backstory with Papas, but Plasma is and was nobody important.

Mileena MadnessStill think Plasma should have come out cubed
New theme music also a boxSo...Plasma is kind of like Boba Fett, right? Because Boba Fett appeared very little in the original trilogy, died quickly, and was only fleshed out in the EU.
It's a shame about Phasma because Gwendolyn Christie clearly enjoyed the character and wanted to do something cool with her; she helped write the book and honestly it and the comic made her into an interesting, complex Hate Sink. Too bad none of that characterization made it into the following movie, where she instead got bridge-dropped.

I missed the part where Plasma actually because a meme worthy character. I guess she is one if only for how wasted she was in the film.
Mileena MadnessThem’s the breaks I guess. She’s dead despite not doing or saying anything while Sheev pulls up in a World Devastator and sunglasses. That is the sequels right there, tossing aside interesting new ideas to focus on new ideas that were less interesting until they have to bring back the arc villain of the previous two trilogies to save the plot.
Here is the fundamental difference between Fett & Phasma: Fett was never intended to be an important character.
All he was was just some mook with cool armor & he had that armor only because Star Wars has great costume design, not because he was actually important. The fans latched onto him, because of said cool armor & he was then made into a more substantial character in an act of fan-service.
Phasma was advertised & hyped as a major character alongside Kylo & that other guy to the point of getting movie posters & shit about her which made the fact that she was a totally useless-ass character far worse than what happened to Fett. She was supposed to be intended to be a major character which is why the bungling with her is so noticeable & humiliating.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Phasma was so shameless a concept. If you needed any proof that these films relied on nostalgia you only had to look at her.
You could have replaced her with a robot and it would still be the same character!
New theme music also a boxI still find it weird how fast she folded in TFA when her armor makes her Nigh-Invulnerable.

I'm not sure it's true but I heard it was originally supposed to be some random Mook who was forced to lower the shield, but Abrams decided to use Phasma for it.
At which point afterward her character was completely changed from total fanatic to self serving coward to make it make sense.
But why? Why not just use the mook if you aren't gonna do shit with Plasma?

Mileena MadnessIt's not like he knew Rian Johnson wasn't going to do anything with her.
Phasma and TR 8 R should have swapped places
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youNo because then he would have quickly stolen the spotlight from everyone else, then you'd have to include Raven
New theme music also a boxWait if she was never intended to have given Finn the info, then what was she riginally supposed to have done in TFA?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I think he's saying that they were clearly trying to recreate the Boba Fett hype.
I always get a chuckle out of all the wasted time and effort that went into making Phasma in an attempt to make a Boba Fett for the sequel.
Meanwhile, TR8R was meme'd into existance whithin a day by the fandom.

Mainly because PHASma never got to do anything cool. We saw her walk around and be badass, yeah, we saw her fight Finn, yeah, but that was it. She didn't try and fight her way out of her encounter with Han, Finn, and Chewy, she didn't see any action on Takodana, she didn't even really do anything in The Last Jedi either. She was a lot cooler in The Last Jedi, because she actually saw action, but she never really got the opportunity.
If anything, Boba Fett was the same way. He pops up like ten minutes apiece in each episode; the only reason people liked him was because his armor was cool.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Phasma is an example of how meme magic can't really be manufactured top-down without looking weird. I mean, the mysterious armored thug trope that Boba, Jango, and Phasma all embody was always superficial, but at least with Boba, the weird fan attachment was unintended, and in Jango's case, there was at least a character behind the armor — to the point where he has more screen time out of it, or with at least the helmet removed. With Phasma, she's nakedly an attempt to recapture fan attachment to Boba Fett, but with no character underneath the armor should that not be successful.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Jango's appeal is that he was an actual threat to Luke, and he captured Han,Plasma never did anything that came close to that, she kept coming after Finn though
New theme music also a boxI would’ve liked to see Phasma have a greater action presence, not only for the thrills but also to contrast her character-wise with Kylo Ren. Kylo thinks he’s Vader, the enforcer and face of the First Order. Phasma actually IS the Vader, the one who molds all the troops into shape and personally leads the assaults to gain the FO power.
Some goodness from Celebration◊.
